Behind Closed Walls Pt. 1

That summer wasn't supposed to go the way it did. It was supposed to be a fun vacation, but it wasn't like I dreamed it would be. The summer of 94 was the worst summer vacation that my friends and I had. In the back of my mind, I knew something was going to happen. I just didn't know how bad it would become. In order for you to understand what I mean by choice of words, I would have to start from the beginning.

On July 13th, 1994, my best friend since the 8th grade, Dawn, wanted to plan our last summer vacation before we all went off to college in the fall. Dawn always liked planning vacations when summer came around. That's why summer was her favorite season. All throughout high school, she planned where we would all go to spend the summer. The vacations were always fun until this one came around. While Celyna, Irish, Gia, and I started packing, I was starting to feel an uneasy feeling about this whole summer. Maybe it's just the nervousness for college, Irish said. But that wasn't the reason, it was like something was telling me to not go this time, all the times we been going on these vacations and I never had this feeling. But I questioned myself, why now? Maybe you're right I said to Irish as I finished packing.

The next day we all met up at Gia's house since her's was just a few blocks down from where I stayed. As we settled in Dawn's Bronco SUV, she announced where would spend the summer at. This summer ladies, we are going to Envyi's Creek. The rest of us looked at each other with shocked expressions but more like terrifying shocks. Dawn are you insane? Celyna asked as she was giving Dawn the look when she thought Dawn was sometimes delusional. What's wrong with Envyi's Creek? Um, Dawn, I don't know if you have heard but that place has a history. Throughout the whole explanation of the small town just outside of the city, Dawn was still in disbelief. Look I don't know what you guys think you heard but I've been there a lot and it's not scary like the people in the city think. We are here to enjoy this last vacation just the five of us. So let's get moving.

On arriving in Envyi's Creek, the town seemed weirder as we passed by the small businesses. Everyone acted differently when we came and that was just half of it. We finally got to Dawn's aunt's cabin which was in the woods. All of us got settled in and enjoyed the rest of the day. Even though I was having a good time, I still had that gut feeling that something wasn't right. Around 5 pm, Irish and I had to go into town and pick up some food to survive off of during our time there. The store seemed pretty simple and modern until we reached the register.

How are you girls holding up there in the woods? The old lady said as she scanned our items. We're fine, Irish said as she looked suspicious to how the people in the town knew where we would spend the summer at. I would be careful if I were you, there have been some killings up there a year prior. My heart just sunk into my back when she said that. Irish looked pale as ever and was spooked. Ma'am, what are you saying? I'm saying there was another group before and they died there...
