On Top of The World
"My mom has stated you have requested her presence." Carmine brought back the curtains of the basement windows. It didn't bring much additional light, but it was enough for me to awaken, and for once I was glad to be in the basement rather than a higher floor, where the sudden brightness would've made me go blind. Having to adjust to the change in lighting meant that I did get somewhere in falling asleep in the "dungeon", so I should be happy about that.

When The Night Is Darker
I give up on tossing and turning if it's going to stay with me all night. As before, the hidden basement of the house that hid me away better than any other room could, seemed to be the same place that opened up every memory inside of me that I didn't want to resurface. It gave me cold sweats, and a numb body, I couldn't live going through it until morning.

Zero Hero
"I'm sorry Nica, but you know that I can't return your feelings. You've always been a little sister to me, and I value that a lot, but I can't give you any more than that." Carmine walked up his front steps, flowers retrieved in hand, without effort done to hide them. He was working so hard to be casual with her random presence that he didn't realize, and I had no way to tell him.

His Healing
"This year hasn't been a good one for you, huh Carmine? I didn't get the chance to pay my condolences because of the loss of your mom, and now you have a dead government official in your basement that was after you too? You're lucky you had someone around who knew about me and called me. Who was she anyway? Do you know?" The doctor took down an IV bag that just ran dry, to replace it with a new one.

Flooded in Red Memories
Blood. That rich red made me despise what was once my favorite color. It always was, because it was the one that represented Mom and Dad's love story. How in awe they were of the red leaves that'd branch off of trees in autumn with interlocked hands, or the bright sunset that made the entire sky a watercolor when they held each other's embrace.

Flashing Lights
"Carmine. Your phone. Give it." I mouthed it to him from behind the man with the blade. In his weakness, Carmine saw me, but as more blood trickled down from the side of his neck, a confused eyebrow raise was difficult enough for him. That didn't mean I could stop him from fighting. I needed him, so that I could be there for him myself. He needed to give me this little boost before I could take control.

Don't Scream
"Whatever you do, Riz, don't make a sound, and don't move." Carmine spoke in a breathy whisper, one that gave away that he was up against a struggle or a fight. The blanket still covered my entire body head to foot, and I was too in a daze to comprehend what he meant or why he would say such a thing. I wouldn't be too surprised if it was another bad dream that mixed in with my painful past experiences.

Muted Freedom
"Oh my, sweetie. Don't be silly." The woman tapped me gentle against the shoulder. She acted like there wasn't any big deal; like I were a normal person, and she made the atmosphere light and fluffy when she joked. It put me at ease, slightly, but I couldn't give a stranger my trust at an instant. She herself knew that I couldn't. She knew she was going to have to gain it.

There's No Time to Be Speechless
I've watched Carmine and Nica intertwine fingers so tightly it's as if they were laced together, hug in each other's closeness as if they thought nothing of anything else, and kiss so longingly after each other's lips left for a breath, that when the director called the crew in for a break, I couldn't say I wasn't glad.

Rule Breaker
"I've legit always promised myself I wouldn't ever do this. What is my life coming to? You better be hella thankful for this!" Carmine was being all 'you should know you're indebted to me' when I have no clue what he was about to do and why that made me owe him something. I'm sure I do owe him a ton, but he wasn't specifying what exactly it was about this time. He sure enjoys being superior, doesn't he? He loves watch me be on the edge of my seat as I wait for what he's gonna say. I hate that.

Attempted
I've seen four sunsets total. The fourth one just went down. I counted, and for the entire time, I've been cooped up inside the room I ran into. I haven't left the room once. Call me over-the-top, but I gave up everything and literally everything more if I needed, to avoid him.
