Mind Over Matter
So something about me and how I write is that it only happens sporadically and when it does, it all comes out at once. These poems just seem to spill out of me quickly within a couple minutes and I usually make very few edits. I don't force myself to write (probably why I never get better haha!) and I try not to change or edit what falls onto the page unless it's a spelling or syllable errors. It surprises me how it seems to come out in correct rhythem and rhyme. Many times as song lyrics. Anyway.. this spilled out of me one night in 2015 when I was lost in thought dwelling on that familiar arch enemy of mine... my mental addiction that creeps around and never leaves me.

Veronica
I didn't want to kill her... I had to. The voices had to stop! Moonlight shimmers off the blood-splattered walls of our bedroom. Veronica lays limp on the carpet. Kneeling beside her body, I peer into her eyes, like a lens into our past... into our souls... hoping to absorb the love we had.

Body Double
My father told me this story of when he was ten. He and his brother shared bunk-beds in his parents old house. My father awoke one night in the top bunk hearing strange noises coming from the closet. He saw his brother sitting and tossing clothes... and speaking stranging to himself.
