A Knock on the Door
Most Saturday nights saw Mirriam in front of the television, relaxing after a long week with a movie and popcorn. She tried not to repeat movies more than once every three months, but picked from the numerous streaming services to find something that fit her mood.

Dynamic Shelving
Making Changes The beginning of the school year marked the beginning of my third year in my library. Despite a lot of people telling me not to change anything in my first two years, I did make a lot of changes to make the library brighter and more welcoming.

Discordant Sounds
There are some songs that just rub you the wrong way. It might be the tone of the singer’s voice on that particular song or how overplayed the song is. Most of the time, I dislike a song because it gets stuck in my head (thank you, ADHD) or I’ve heard it so many times that I just cannot hear it one more time.

Chaos Celebration Part Two
Reverse to Part One By the time Colin got to the hospital, Brooklyn had been taken back to a room. Fast service was an advantage to living in a small town. While the actual facility wasn’t huge, they were fully able to take care of an accident like Brooklyn’s in a timely manner. Jonathan Swift
Jonathan Swift was born in Ireland on November 30, 1667. An influential writer of his time, he used satire to protest England’s rule of Ireland. In addition to writing, he was the dean of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. He wrote under pseudonyms, most likely to protect himself from the political conditions of his time and place.

You're a Librarian!
You’re landed your dream job and you are now a school librarian. But now what? First off, don’t panic. There are tons, almost too many, of resources available. Most likely you’ve completed a Master of Library Sciences and/or a school librarianship certification. (It varies from state to state what is needed to be a school librarian, but most require at least certification). This may leave you feeling very prepared or not prepared at all. I’ve found that a lot of my learning has come from on the job training. Yes, I learned things in my classes, but just like teaching (and I think a lot of other jobs), school can only prepare you so much for the real world.
