I didn’t expect you to care
Our education when we were young, the environment we grew up in and religion are the main factors which teach us to care for others. We learn from our parents to show empathy towards others and to expect the same from them. Likewise, the environment we grew up in might have individuals who show a lot of concern for us, generally kids of our age also in need of love and affection who probably receive the same lessons. Finally, religion teaches us that we are one, and we should treat others the same. These are the few avenues I could think of which really teach us how to show concern and care for others, there might be more.

A smile can hide so much pain
There is a widespread belief that positivity attracts positivity, even though I believe this is true to a degree, there isn’t necessarily a direct correlation. This belief has led people to be more inclined to socialize with positive persons and to resent negative persons.

What an evil person looks like
Reading through the news, I saw an article which talked about a young man who slaughtered his girlfriend, and instantly I had many questions on my mind. The most obvious question was to know why a person so young would do something so heinous, I wondered to myself why go to such a length and not simply walk away. Cutting the throat of a person requires a certain level of anger and premeditation, you can’t just do such an act out of randomness.

Complaining leads to Inaction
There is no shortage of persons who can point out all the flaws of society, no matter which country you are in or where you are there is always someone who can tell you precisely what is wrong with the world. When it comes to my country Cameroon, you can get that assessment pretty much every where you look, whether its those who are drinking in bars, on news channels, in offices, even on the roadside everybody knows pretty well what is wrong and they can go as far as proposing solutions too.

Are you lazy?
In terms of productivity, I’ve been looking for tools to measure precisely my productivity. I found a couple of them which did give me some promising results, but eventually I realized that I didn’t need tools to measure my productive. I also understood why companies don’t measure productivity in terms of what people do on a daily basis. They look at the bigger picture, at the end of the day it's the execution of the higher level tasks which matter and not what small tasks people get done daily.

Become what it takes
Numerous persons have already shared their dreams with me, their aspirations and what they want to ultimately become in life. Personally there are also things I aspire to become and some other things I had to give up entirely. There was a moment when I wanted to become an actor, another time I wanted to become a musician, astronaut, and all one not. Whenever a person shares their dreams with me, what I’ve learned to do is observe their current lifestyle, to kind of get a sense of whether they will be able to become what they want. If their current lifestyle can even sustain that. Most times than not you will have a person aspiring for a highly demanding position meanwhile they aren’t even able to manage a little stress without crashing out.
