Planes at the Post Office
Parcel tucked under her arm, Katie waited for the traffic to stop at the zebra crossing and quickly hurried towards the post office, lifting her hand in thanks to the cars who had stopped. She pushed on the heavy door and prayed that there wasn't a queue.

Rachel Reviews: Crossing the Continent: The Stories of Transportation's Trailblazers by Norman Tyler
I found Norm Tyler's Crossing the Continent incredibly interesting. What we have here is a book which is meticulously researched and packed full of information and pictures which have been sieved and distilled by Tyler to create a documentation of the stories of pioneers, entrepreneurs, visionaries and mercenary businessmen, who all had a hand in making travel across America possible.

Rachel Reviews: Professor Nim's Possibility Collapser and Other Stories by Steven Muir
Steven Muir's book is quite a unique collection of stories. On reading this book, you are entering a place which is slightly surreal but not incomprehensibly so; the writing is strong in terms of its structure and direction; it has an veneer of mystery which is not always easy to penetrate; and it will leave you thoughtful. That's how it was for this reader anyway.
