John Martin - The North East’s Greatest Ever Artist
In Newcastle we have the Laing art museum and many years ago there was a tour of the work of John Martin here and at the Tate. You can visit the Laing online here and buy "John Martin: Apocalypse Now!" by Barbara Mordern here.

The Witch's Promise
This poem is unusual because I name and link to the subject. If anyone I write about wants to come out as a subject , let me know and I will link you to my words. Sophia is a great friend and we almost played in a band together once but things didn’t gel. She sang, I played bass with a guitarist , saxophonist, drums and three singers.

Golden Hair
This sonnet is a tribute to a very good friend who may or may not reveal herself. The poem is personal to her, and was inspired when I saw a beautiful selfie of hers on Instagram. The song is a version of James Joyce’s “Golden Hair” by Syd Barrett.

Life changes and often we need to take that into account if we are to survive and move on. The spark for this comes from my Muse but the inspiration is from the beautiful song by Jon Anderson ex Yes vocalist. Who could think a man from Accrington could have such a heavenly voice.

To Stop The Moon
I was watching “A Knight’s Tale” last night, one of the wildest medieval films you will ever see, and Heath Ledger says about the girl he loves “I would ask God to stop the moon, so that I could see the beauty in your face forever” which obviously made me think of my Muse, and could I write a poem based on that premise.

The Song of the Salesman
Many years ago I was made redundant and to teach myself ASP.NET I created a website called “Song of the Salesman” , This meant I had something to show potential employers when looking for contracts. At hit’s height it brought me in about £400 a a month but Shazam and streaming effectively killed it off as an entity.

There Is No Love Between Us Any More
I have always loved Pop Will Eat Itself since on my first night in Newcastle I switched on the radio and Simon Mayo played “Beaver Patrol” from “Box Frenzy”. “There Is No Love Between Us Any More” is a great anti love / breakup song that you can actually smile and laugh at and frugg to.

The Water Hole .. A Finality
This was requested by Jason B , a conclusion to The Water Hole , my entry into the Vocal Foggy Waters Challenge. I did a conclusion but he wanted to know what happened next. This is my attempt to finalise the story although I have a feeling it will not end. I really hope this again lives up to expectations , but we will see. I have kept a few terms from the Philip Pullman “His Dark Materials” books which will fit in with the general story.
