She awoke to the cacophony of muffled machinery. Soft bells and low humming. A percussive tone that quickened with her heartbeat. She gasped in breath, tasting copper and electricity in the air, but the sweet mixture of oxygen woke her further and stirred memories, wisps of dreams.

“I’m not sure I remember how to get there.” “Does anything look familiar?” “Well.” I sighed, looking around, trying to overlay childhood memories on top of the bustling storefronts on either side of the road. To the right, is that the same building the old supermarket was in? The building seemed old enough, about the right size and shape. Though the hardware store occupying it was new. Well. New-er. “Maybe?”
