A Barn
I was just looking through some materials for possible articles and I found this old picture I drew of a barn. The medium I used was colored pencils. I tried to show depth by open doors into the barn and the loft above the door. There is a covered path to the silo. Even though you can see them there are also water troughs in the farmyard along with some haystacks. As you can see I tried to draw a side porch along with some large cans along the entrance to the path to the silo. Please comment on this.

The Nights at the Library
Usually, I do not get called out to work at this particular library too often. But this night I am to report to the university Curriculum library (is where education majors can sign out old textbooks to complete various course projects using old schoolbooks) and start their yearly perpetual inventory. For those you do not know a perpetual inventory is where librarians and if there are assistants count all the books in said library to make sure all the books were returned. This is one tedious job duty, but if one really loves books no matter the content the job is not that bad, and it gives one a sense of accomplishment.

New Avenues
I was looking at the opening page when signing out of Vocal, and that is when I decided to re-read some of the articles on working here on Vocal.com. I went to the old article about enhancing how to earn more here. I was happy just writing, reading, commenting, and even getting a few tips I wanted to find a way to 'enhance' more. So, I read about that we were allowed to suggest future challenges and found in the article where to make those suggestions and name two. I hope they read and accept them. To me: good ideas.

The Night at the School Library
I usually do not get called to substitute for this school library too often for they have a list that they rotate substitutes. Usually, I worked two or three nights a month at this location. The duties are about the same as for the public and college libraries for I still reshelve some books back on the shelves, but for the most part I am basically just running the vacuum over the carpet and dusting the furniture and shelves. As I was in the far back corner, I heard that all familiar phrase just like my other nights.

Back to School
Who remembers reporting to school on that first day of school? Walking into those freshly waxed hallways and classrooms, catching up with some friends that you haven't seen all summer. Then, the bell rings and you head to your homeroom and find your seat and seek out your schedule to see what kind of year you are going to have with happiness or trepidation. All the days as it has done for years starts out with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silent meditation followed by morning announcements. Welcome back, everyone and let's have a great year!

Dog Days of August
August to me is the Dog Days of Summer as well as the month to get ready for Back-to-School. The days are still hot, and one just lays around for the last days of just plain relaxing are just about done for the busy days are not that far off now. The excitement for me and going back-to-school and seeing all my school friends, but also the excitement of family reunions and a few other end-of-summer picnics. The dog days of August are days to remember and to take a breath for Christmas is not that far away for us.

Another night at the Children's library
Got called in to work another night shift at the Children's library. I really do not mind for that place is really just fun to be in with all the colors and pictures on the walls, as well as the little tables and chairs. These can be hard to clean up depending on what the staff has the kids doing. As usual the first duty is as like in adult family libraries reshelving the books is the first to be done. As I was once again, going up and down the stacks there was that whisper again of "Read the book. Read the book." At times I am actually expecting to hear the whispers now.
