Heaven in the Voice Room. Top Story - September 2024.
This will not be an official report. I will be keeping this in my private files. And I will remain anonymous. Mr. Defoe was one of the newer staff members, but he had already proven himself to be a very valuable asset at the school, covering for other absent teachers, finding lost files (actually discovered one behind a filing cabinet that was so old it was in one of the colours I had not seen in almost a decade), and creating his own lesson plans. With all of that work, the decision to put him in charge of our Voice Room seemed easy enough (the other teachers simply did not want the job, and he was too polite to say no).

Kendall on Kindle
Okay, I've read the ads and one review about it, so I think that I can comment on this reading device. The Kindle is now available everywhere and seems to be still popular with readers. This intrigues me, because I once read a review of the device by Ian Brown, columnist for Canada's very own The Globe and Mail. Apparently, the international version of the device was not available, so Mr Brown made due with a less universal version. This gave me enough info to form some thoughts on e-books and e-readers.

World Peace
She was standing at the dais when she thought about the Sunday when everything changed. With her mortarboard on and her most recent speech finished, Jessica looked back at everything that changed around her. The governments that hated each other announced that they would no longer be “pursuing interests in detriment to our citizens” (that was verbatim; she could not forget it if she tried). Weapons would be broken down; armies would be recalled. Peace would be established around the world. And it was all her fault.

Waiting for White Smoke
Hero or victim; victim or hero... I have never been able to settle on one side or the other. For those of you who hate the Earth, and feel that you should strip it, rob it, spoil it with your products and your greed, I am your enemy, and you feel my wrath when I force you to inhale, inject or consume the waste that you've given the world.

A Few Thoughts about Drugs
I have no idea why I never became an addict. As I have written previously, I had some difficult moments in my childhood and had to find a way to handle the pain in my life. Food was the only real option available, besides the reading, writing and guitar-playing. Of course, this was not a set of options that went unnoticed. My weight gain was commented on, but no one asked the question, “Why?” Why was I doing this to myself? Why did I eat so much when it reached the point where it was no longer providing any real pleasure? And why didn’t anyone stop me?
