Next Patient
The Fixer opened the last three files and felt a distinct lack of enthusiasm. They had thought this project would be just the thing needed to kickstart their motivation. It wasn't turning out to be that way. Two of the problems would be fixed together, and the fact the double header fit into this commission was simply a happy accident, it would be a job they would do regardless. The Fixer would use them as the dénouement, the end game it seemed so fitting.

Three sins had now been crossed off The Fixer’s task list, things were moving at a nice easy pace. There had been no cross over of locations, MO’s or victim types. Some days The Fixer realized this job really was what they were born for. What made it particularly sweet were the times fixing things aligned with righting wrongs that rubbed up against their own personal code of ethics.

Trapped in the China Shop
Steam had left the bathroom mirror opaque, only a semi-distinct image could be seen as Erin’s reflection. Fancifully she held up her hands and mimed knocking, the result was it sort of looked as though a body was trapped under the ice of a frozen pond, half-heartedly trying to find a way out. Half-heartedly because she really didn’t feel as though she had the energy to fight any more.

Balancing the Scales
Orange and yellow petals were bright in the bouquet sitting in a glass, doubling as a vase on the dressing table. Detective Mustard looked around the crime scene and tried not to sigh. This was the ninth of these and quite honestly, he figured it was only a matter of time before one of the victims died. In fact, he couldn’t believe the last two were still alive, though the most recent was still in ICU.

The first sin is now crossed off the list. The Fixer had six more sins to choose from. It was tempting to just close their eyes and stab at a name randomly, for the ordered mattered not in the overall scheme of things. It seemed completely unsettled until The Fixer’s eyes flicked over the date, February the 13th. Shaniqua it was then.

The Rippling Effect of Greed
Prisons are full of dumb criminals. Life has a few not so dumb ones. It is my job to deal with those who may believe they can get away with what they have done, those who think they are protected. They are not. It is a hard lesson to learn, and often a final one. Which brings me to my current project, there are seven deadly sins and seven targets on my current task list. It seemed appropriate that Greed reared her ugly head first, though as with many of these people more than one of these sins permeates their lives.

Barn Storming
Down by the river was her favourite place on the farm. As a kid, Bree had loved to just sit in the dappled shade and listen to the water trip over the rocks and pebbles as the water made its way along. She must have sat on every good rock, climbed every tree she could along the river in the back paddock. Now, years later, it was a place that again provided solace. Somehow it was a place that allowed her to rest and find a semblance of peace, something most welcome after the last six months.

Eva put down the book. She smoothed back the wisps of hair that had escaped her braid and listened. Counting to sixty as she always did in these moments of uncertainty she controlled her breathing and focussed on sounds.

Coming For Lyssa
Anger pulsed through Andy’s veins in time with her heart beat. Blood boiling rage bubbled. Taking a moment, Andy breathed through it. Gave it some space to be acknowledged, before pushing it down. To Andy’s mind, anger at least was better than fear.

Arghhh! I can’t believe I forgot to hem my wedding dress! Yes that is a thought, and a statement, I uttered the day before I was to walk down the aisle. Just hours out from the moment, I had a very full satin skirt that needed to be taken from frayed and uneven to neatly invisibly stitched.
