The Book Dragon's Lair
Hello all, Katie here. Today, I am going to talk about my mega-ultra-super dream! The "have your cake and eat it too" dream (I'll have carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, please). What would I do to make money if I could wave a magic wand and make it happen? I would want a website/ blog that was my personal nerd queendom. A collection of blogs, I guess you could say. Where I could write about books, comic books, share my writing (poetry and short stories mostly), post some of my photos (maybe even sell some prints), and share my thoughts on life. A place where I could do it all.

The Hunt for Turtles
So, here is this challenge to capture the wild, and what do I have? Ducks… lots and lots of ducks. Don’t get me wrong, I like taking pictures of ducks. There is nothing wrong with some great duck prints, but I wanted something more. I live in a city, it is not a huge city, but its still city enough that you have to look for wildlife. There are some beautiful bike paths that follow a creek and within that little micro bubble of nature there are critters a plenty to take pictures of. I wanted something interesting, something cool… and that is when I saw the turtles.

How a Bad Idea can be a Good Thing
Hey all, Katie here. Today I am going to talk about Bad Idea and the comics they have released so far. For those of you in the comic book world that don't know about Bad Idea, you are missing out! Bad Idea is a new company that is doing things their way. If you haven't had a chance to read any of their comics yet, I am sorry because they are fabulous. Bad Idea comics are only available in comic stores, and only in a select few, but there is bound to be a comic bookstore somewhere near you where you can find these awesome books. Right now, they have released a total of three different comics: Eniac, Tankers, and Whalesville x Rocks and Minerals, and I am going to tell everyone what I think of them.

How a Bad Idea Led to my Wildlife Photos
Hello all, I am Katie and I am a nerd. I am not ashamed of it, and I love my nerdy pass times. These include (but aren’t limited to): Magic the Gathering, video games, books books and more books, being a harry potter fangirl (along with other fandoms), and within the last few years, I have gotten into comics. Currently I am reading a number of comic books but am interested and fascinated by a new comic book company called Bad Idea.

The Book is Better than the Movie
The verdict: The book wins easily. Don’t get me wrong. The movie is a fun romp, but the book is a fabulous tale that makes the reader think. This one isn’t even hard to judge. The movie is fun and exciting, but nothing spectacular. The book is amazing, thought provoking, and interesting.

Superheroes aren't Everything- (There are other Comics)
Within the last couple of years, I have started to get into comics. Comics are great, and I have learned that there is something for everyone. I know what you’re thinking, well I mean yea they’re fine but I’m not that into superheroes, I’ll just stick with books. What with all the movies and tv shows superheroes have flown into mainstream entertainment and they are dragging their paper counterparts along with them. Which is a good thing. Really. Being a nerd is more in the vogue then it has ever been.

The Book is Better than the Movie 1
Ok, so first things first. I am an avid reader and am almost always going to rate the book higher than the movie. That being said, there are exceptions to that rule and there are some movies out there that are just as good as the book. Just to be clear I get that a movie is different than the book and one could see them as separate entities… but in my mind they are linked so, without further ado here is my first- the book is better than the movie rant.
