Getting out of the Quicksand
Every year as the days wind down and the new year looms, I get asked that typical question, “So, what are your New Year’s resolutions?” I always give the same answer, “I never do New Year’s resolutions.” Honestly have you ever really followed through on a resolution that you made? You have you say, I admit I am skeptical. Look I get that there are some highly motivated people out there and these mythical figures may actually keep their resolutions. Let’s face it though, most people give it the good old college try for a few weeks and then slip back into their old patterns.

Grandmother's Stories
The rumble of the clouds sent panic crashing through Alexa, to be caught in the rain would be death. She would never make it back to the cave before the storm broke. She stood in a forest full of contaminated trees grey, rubbery, and grotesque. Her grandmother had been alive in the Before and she had told her that trees had once been brown and green and not at all gross looking. Her grandmother was full of stories, but Alexa wasn’t sure she believed all of them.

The End of the World Should not be Pretty
Handcuffed and forced to march into the city, I couldn’t help but feel let down by all the books and movies about the end of the world. The apocalypse was not supposed to be pretty. The end of the world was supposed to be gritty, chaotic, and brutal. Where were the gas masks, the piles of rubble, the radiation twisted beasts?

The Late Night Show with Jack the Ripper
It is England 1888 and suddenly women are showing up with their throats cut and disemboweled. Following these murders were various letters that were sent to newspapers and law enforcement, including the infamous “Dear Boss” letter that gave the killer his name- Jack the Ripper. There was doubt at the time whether these letters (and one kidney) were pranks or real relics from the actual killer but that didn’t matter to the public. These sensational murders were taking place in lower class areas (mostly the Whitechapel area of London) and targeting prostitutes. For more information than you will ever need (and nightmares, don’t forget the nightmares) you can check out https://www.jack-the-ripper.org/writers.htm. It’s where I found out all the facts about Jack the Ripper (beyond the basics that everyone knows) and is the reason I have all the lights on in my house at the moment.

Bad Idea Wednesday
Katie here, and I am going to talk about the Bad Idea comics that recently dropped. June 2nd was supposed to be the release of two Bad Idea titles: Tankers and Eniac 4 (the final title in a 4-book series). Sadly, we only got one, Eniac 4 won't be coming out until June 30th. This is a huge bummer, because I am excited to see how the story ends but the anticipation will make it all that more satisfying to see what happens in the final issue. However, we did get our Bad Idea fix with Tankers #2 which came out on June 2nd on schedule.

Transforming the Mundane into the Miraculous
If you could be a jellyfish for one night, would you go for it? No, I don’t have some mad science idea on how to become a jellyfish (sounds like an awesome Magic School Bus episode though, doesn’t it?). However, armed with a clear chip bowl, some bubble wrap, tape, a strobe light, and a pair of scissors I could grant you that wish. If you wanted to get extra classy you could add some double-sided lace. Then you too could join my Jellyfish army bwahahaha… Errr. I got a little side-tracked there. Moving on. I go a little nuts on Halloween, I always make my costumes and I tend to go overboard. Here is my pride and joy, one of the best Halloween costumes I have ever created I give you the Jellyfish-
