My Heart is a Snow Globe
Strokes of Summer

In my mind’s eye there is a golden summer memory so sweet.
I wish I could keep it locked in a snow globe hidden apart,
So that when life becomes difficult- I could use it as a secret retreat.
But it is enough to know that the memory so sweet, is painted in my heart-
Painted with a redwood brush and the vibrant yellows of the sun.
The trail spreads before me covered in the greens of brush,
My father on the trail behind me who chases me as I run-
As I dash down the path my laughter makes the forest more lush.
On my back watching the stars twinkle and flirt like a celestial romance
The campfire pops and fizzles and releases its smoke into the night-
The red, blues, and oranges of the fire- painting patterns like a dance,
Would that I could waltz with the flames or soar with the smoke like a kite.
The brush strokes of summer delight color my heart’s memory,
And when I need happiness, I can bring out my snow globe for all to see.
