Midnight Lovemares
Daniel sitting on his living room couch with his girlfriend Teresa at 2:30 a.m. watching tv. “So we’re still on for my family’s dinner tomorrow right?” Teresa asked. “I don’t know” Daniel started with exhaust. “You know I can’t stand your mom”. “Hardy har” Teresa responded unaware that Daniel was serious in his rebuttal. “I’m like dead serious” Daniel began. “I really can’t stand being around your mother, she’s too big on the nosy questions.” “But you promised you were going” Teresa responded with annoyance.

A Friend of Hope. Content Warning.
Last week I was in my car on the way home from work when I got a call from a childhood friend. It had been a minute since the two of us last spoke so I was surprised to be getting a call from him. When I picked up the phone he gave me some devastating news, a friend of ours who we had known since the first grade passed away. What made it worse was he died by suicide. All I could think about and ask myself was how could this good kid who was always smiling and vibrant could’ve taken his own life? Of course that’s a question many of us ask ourselves when such a tragedy happens.

Accountability
How often do we play the blame game when life gets rough? Very often I suppose. When things go wrong we often cry, get angry, start pointing fingers at the cause of our problems and throw ourselves a big pity party to prop ourselves up, but one thing we often fail to do is take accountability for our actions.

United 93: Impact of a Legend
One Friday night, April 28th, 2006 my dad came to pick me up from my grandma’s house and told me we were going to the movies. There wasn’t any movie out that I particularly wanted to see that weekend so I wasn’t interested in going, nevertheless he made me go anyway and told me we were going to see United 93. I had no idea what the heck that was so now I was even less interested in going. There was also another movie showing that night named Akeelah and the Bee. Though I wasn’t crazy about that movie either I did atleast go watch it while my dad was watching United 93.

Tying The Knot
Weddings really are a time to be alive. Everyone is a sucker for a ceremony of love in which two people who are soulmates are ready to tie the knot and fortify their love forever. I only started going to weddings just over the course of the past decade of my adult life. For some reason as a kid I never got around to many. I’ve seen many people I love walk down the isle of ever lasting love, but being part of the wedding of my little brother and his better half has definitely been one of my favorites.

Toxic Relationships: The Most Addictive Drug
As human beings it is in our nature to connect. We all crave connection and went through a period in our lives when we went without it. For most of us it started during our childhoods, coming from a household with an inconsistent caregiver. The inconsistency of this connection leaves a hole in our hearts and an emptiness that compels us to look for connection elsewhere. That elsewhere often comes in the form of unhealthy attachments like drinking and drug usage, but who would’ve ever guest that the most addictive drug came in the form of people? The most addictive drug is a toxic relationship.
