Gregory Dolan Dies
Bio
I’ve been around the block a time or two but due to a bad left hip I never get far, I just keep walking in circles. I’m an old rusty merry-go-round that will leave you cut and in stitches.

Raising My Humans
Raising My Humans Being a certified rescue dog is never easy, you never know where your next stop will be, if you’ll be loved or used, and for me how easy will the humans be to raise? I’ve been in homes with children, adults and even other dogs and I abhor the latter, they are beasts, unable to grasp my philosophies of raising the humans. Hell I rather hang with a group of cats, they understand that humans are staff, they work for us, not vice versa, but other dogs, incompetent and lazy, in my humble opinion. This time I stumbled into a home with just two humans, both older, but that doesn’t necessarily mean easier, they are set in their ways and I have to start from scratch.

A Viking Funeral
A Viking Funeral There’s a fine art in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and I’ve seen it accomplished as a player, a coach, a fan, and a parent, but please don’t try this at home, it will take a huge piece of your ego and leave you scratching your head like you have lice.

The Twin Tanks
The Twin Tanks I usually have to travel with body guards, not so much to stay safe from adoring fans or the paparazzi, but generally because of my unfiltered mouth, a nice way of saying I’m a smart ass to the nth degree. Shawn ‘Bubba’ Wilson has been pulling that duty for close to fifty years, but when I was younger I used to travel with at least two, and Stan ‘Steamer’ Miller filled that other spot perfectly.

Hot Summer Nights
Hot Summer Nights My moms sister, my Aunt Sally, was kind enough to offer to take Matt and I for a month in the summer before my eighth grade year, the parents couldn’t pay for the plane tickets fast enough. I was twelve and Matt was ten and this was to be our first vacation away from the parents, and Vice versa.

Idaho 1 Me 0
Idaho 1 Me 0 So late last summer Tim Ure and I decided to go camping, we’ve both watched every season of Alone so we figured we were ready, I should have figured better. This may get embarrassing for me, but what the fuck, I’ve embarrassed myself so many times already it’s become standard fare.

Silver Lake Sojourn
Silver Lake Sojourn Between Shawn ‘Bubba’ Wilson and I, we made the trek up to the Eastern Sierras, the June Loop, thirty five years straight, we drank, laughed and caught a lot of fish, large and small, but this particular trip really stood out. We decided to take our daughters up one year to camp, in tents, at the Silver Lake Resort, and I use the term Resort, very loosely.

Breathing Nightmare
Breathing Nightmare The Final Chapter As I struggled to find the right words the doctors had explained to Matt that Mallory was not going to recover, but the sum of her parts could heal many. Instead of walking her down the aisle, Matt and Raeona walked Mallory down the hallway of the hospital. She donated valuable organs so others could live. It was the 11th of December and both weary and teary my little brother made the announcement on the doorsteps of Cottage Hospital. The crowd was numbering in the hundreds as he gave them the worst news possible.

Breathing Nightmare
Breathing Nightmare Chapter 2 Most of us hadn’t slept in two days now but in the morning we heard news that the swelling in Mallorys brain had gone down a fraction, we held out much hope this would be the start of a holiday miracle, and as Matt and I reached the landing the crowd had dispersed.

A Breathing Nightmare
A Breathing Nightmare (This is not my story to tell, but I’ll do my best, people need to know) I never bring my phone to bed, for any call in the middle of the night just plain sucks. No one has ever called me at 2:00 AM to tell me I’ve won the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes, nah, bringing the phone to bed is begging for trouble.

Poking the Bear
Firsts: Poking the Bear There are a lot of people out there one should avoid pissing off, I must have missed that day at school, for I continue to do such things despite the knowledge it could backfire on me. I’ve done my best to call out a lot of these bears, with words and actions and after a lifetime of doing just this, there’s no way I can quit cold turkey.

Onions
Firsts: Onions I don’t know if I could bite into a raw onion if I were starving in the woods, stuck on a frozen tundra in a winter wonderland, but I’ve cut, chopped, diced and cooked with every color onion imaginable. Yet I’m much more interested in the metaphor of peeling back the onion layers and how that pertains to we humans.

Alone
Firsts: Alone Part Two When Mt. St. Helens erupted on May 18th, 1980 my world at Eastern Washington University was turned upside down, sideways and every which way but loose. I was having adventures before then, but after the eruption I erupted myself a tad.
