Not Your Average Rant
I told myself I wasn’t going to sit down and write tonight. However, my mind is going chaotically wild, and I can’t stop it. The first strain of thoughts has to do with COVID. I know. I know. “We don’t talk about COVID.”. But why? Have you become so worried about what others think? Or is it because you still believe that it is fake? Or that it is a more aggressive version of the flu? No matter what you think of COVID, why is it that we can’t talk about it? Someone will jump down your throat about what you think about it if we do. Don’t get me started on masks. The amount of dirty looks I receive for wearing one is ridiculous. They don’t know why I wear it, yet they can’t control their expressions. I don’t wear it because I am not vaccinated, and I don’t wear it because I am freshly vaccinated. Quite honestly, I don’t feel like it is anyone’s business.

Ella and the Depths of Hell
On a quiet Saturday night, I continued to read the newest chapter of Frevanth and Athelayna when a portal from hell opened at the foot of my bed. A dark skinny demon strides through rips off my covers, and begins to drag me through the portal by my ankles, saying, "You're going to help me settle a bet.".

Frevanth and Athelayna: Chapter 5
Previous Chapter While lost in thought, Athelayna realizes that Aerin is looking at her. She pretends not to notice; however, Ydil shields Athelayna with her wings when he approaches her. "No Ydil. It is alright." Athelayna says in a soothing tone. Ydil lowers her wings allowing Aerin to approach Athelayna; however, once he is close enough, she closes her wings around the two as if she is keeping guard.

Judge James Shoreman
Scenario: Judge James Shoreman is up for reelection in 2 months. He has a full docket on Monday morning. Two of the individuals on this docket are Thomas J. Catalano and Abdul Hussein Jabari. Mr. Catalano has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. His prior record consists of breaking and entering, assault on a police officer, and possession of narcotics. Mr. Catalano has a “high-priced” lawyer with the discretionary funds for an additional investigation. Mr. Catalano has a wife and two children. He has been employed for 5 years at the local banking institution. Mr. Catalano has received a 10-year probation sentence with the stipulation that if he violates this probation, he will serve the remainder of the sentence in the state prison. Mr. Jabari has been charged with the distribution of a controlled substance (prescription drugs). His prior record consists of possession of narcotics and falsification of identity. Mr. Jabari has a court-appointed lawyer who is on the pro bono list maintained by the judge. His funds are limited but the Muslim community has rallied to his financial aid, and there have been demonstrations at the courthouse. Mr. Jabari has a wife and three children. He has been employed for 8 years as the chief chef at a local restaurant. Mr. Jabari has received 7 years in the state prison, without the possibility of good time.

Impact of Diversity on the Criminal Justice System
Reviewing the case of State v. Hunt, we learn that the blood type did not match Mr. Hunt’s blood type. Today it is important to examine the crime scene thoroughly because there is a lot of valuable information in a single droplet of blood. Blood samples help not only the victim but also the possible accused attacker. (Pokupcic, 2017) In 1987 DNA evidence was first used in the United States for investigations. Thus, making the fact that the assailant’s DNA not was not a match an irrelevant fact at the time. (EasyDNA, 2021) While Mr. Hunt had proof in October of 1994 the jury still found him guilty even though the semen found and tested was not his. They stated that they never found semen and it was not in the criminal report. The judge ruled that when they “found” semen and it was tested that it was not enough evidence to prove his innocence. After nineteen long years Mr. Hunt was released because his attorney asked that Hunt’s DNA be run through the database which concluded to find evidence that the murderer was already in prison for another murder and Mr. Hunt was released and awarded almost two million dollars as compensation for the years they robbed him of. (Michigan Law, 2019) I feel that these advancements in DNA testing have made it so that it is easier to make sure that this type of mistake (committing an innocent individual) does not happen again.

Previous Chapter Avery was conflicted, and Athelayna could see it in his eyes. Finally, she decided to push no further. "Fine." she whispered but not in defeat. She was thinking of a plan to harness her father's powers without killing him. "Aerin, come here please." she motions as she points to the ground at her feet. "Neel before me." she demands. Aerin lets out a boastful chuckle.
