When your tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear the sound
One of the pitfalls of writing is obtaining a viable audience. Everyone who writes desires for their tree to fall in the woods and for there to be someone who hears it. Unfortunately for writers, there is always the possibility that no one will hear your tree hit the ground and that there will be no sound. In the photo, my son and I were walking on a trail when we came to this tree that had fallen.

The Boys: Where they are now
Where are they now is a common question regarding musical acts of days gone by. During the late 1980s teenage girls were singing and dancing to the sound of THE BOYS who were similar to a young NEW EDITION. The four singing siblings even sang their hit recording Crazy on an episode in the fifth season of the NBC sitcom A DIFFERENT WORLD. They portrayed a group called Mice to Men which was a play on the hip hop group Boyz 2 Men. The brothers Tajh, BiLal, Khiry, and Hakeem Abdulsamad, made up the group and freely dished on what they thought about each other.

Grief 101: Standing alone
I am so thankful that Vocal has a category for grief because it enables me to write what I am feeling in order to assist others. As I have said in previous articles, I have dealt with grief, funerals, and cemeteries since age 5. I recall standing in the church cemetery when Great Great uncle Jim was buried. I remember when my cousins had their great grandpa's body in the house the night before the funeral and they cried so loud I could hear them at my home which was about a half block away through a field. As a teen, I sang with the church choir during funerals and went through the traditional motions when people died.

Jason, Britt, and Austin's worlds may collide on "General Hospital'
GENERAL HOSPITAL fans who are rooting for Brason are expressing concern on social media about the future of the couple because of Britt's health. In Canada, a doctor confirmed that Dr. Westbourne has the genetic marker for Huntington's disease for which there is no cure. The ABC soap more than likely will not have a miracle cure because there is none in real time. This puts Kelly Thiebaud's character between a rock and a hard place. The only options are to kill her off, quickly or over a period of time, or find out her diagnosis was wrong.

Muckrakers were investigative reporters and writers during what is known as the Progressive Era which lasted from 1890–1920. These individuals wrote about injustice and corruption in order to bring much needed changes in society. You could call them whistleblowers who published articles in magazines like Cosmopolitan and McClure's and also in books. The January 1903 issue of McClure's is considered to be the official debut for muckraking journalism.
