Austin's motives are being revealed on 'General Hospital

The Q connection

The big question for those who watch GENERAL HOSPITAL is related to the identity of Dr. Austin. The way the storyline is shaping up it looks like he might be a Quartermaine. He has been taking an interest in Michael and the ELQ board meeting which is what has viewers believing he is related to the Q's. This could be accurate or all be circumstantial in order to throw viewers off. Spoilers teased that reliable sources said the new doctor would have a connection to a prominent Port Charles family. Let's take a look at some facts that might give fans a clue. After Jane Elliot retired from GENERAL HOSPITAL in 2017, the Q mansion was practically nonexistent. There were rarely any scenes inside the house and the many rooms were devoid of life and laughter. It seemed for a while that the most important family in Port Charles was going to be axed. It took a while but slowly and surely the Quartermaines began to be rebranded.

Michael moved into the mansion, took the family name but changed it back to Corinthos. He did, however, name his son Wiley Quartermaine Corinthos. Prior to Tracy leaving town her son Ned divorced himself from his father Lord Ashton and became Edward Quartermaine just like his grandfather who was the family patriarch. Later Brook Lynn returned to Port Charles and began going by BLQ (Brook Lynn Quartermaine) which is similar to the family business ELQ.

Makeover

GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers were overwhelmingly troubled when the inside of the Q mansion got an extreme makeover. Gone was the warmth, familiarity, and comfortable home that Edward and Lila were responsible for. Family photos and furniture that fans were used to were all removed. The mansion now is a beautiful, updated house but no longer feels like a home as it is devoid of the past.

Modern Family

The mansion is now filled with residents although they are not all Quartermaine's by blood. Instead, the home now represents what many consider to be the look of the modern family. Monica owns the house because Alan gave it to her but she is in the family through marriage. Ned's wife Olivia and her son Leo whose father is Julian Jerome are now living in the mansion and Willow is living in the guest house with Wiley.

Valentin Cassadine and his daughter Charlotte have moved in to be close to his baby daughter Louise who is really Maxie's child with Peter. Louise has the Quartermaine name. Her full name is Bailey Lois which makes her yet another BLQ but it will soon come out that she is not really in the clan and her name could be changed.

Austin

The fact that Austin is a doctor is not helping GENERAL HOPSITAL viewers figure out his identity. There also has been no evidence that any of Edward Quartermaine's illegimate male heirs were on their way to medical school. Right now all that viewers know is that the Q family is increasing and that the new doctor in town has taken special notice of Michael and ELQ. Austin owns property in Pawtauk, including the cabin where Nurse Chloe held Maxie.

This has some viewers suspicious that he may have been helping Peter August. On Tuesday Sam and Dante grilled the doctor and were pretty sure there was video footage that might incriminate him. It is a big coincidence that he owns the very cabin where Peter had Chloe take Maxie but so far there is nothing to connect the doctor to the kidnapping. There was a lot of buildup prior to Roger Howarth returning to Port Charles so there will no doubt be a long time before all the pieces fall into place so stay tuned.
