Stranger Things: The Parallel between the Upside Down, the Abyss, hell,Vecna the Mind Flayer, and Satan
Stranger Things has come and gone, but fans are still dissecting the Netflix series. As a Bible reader and a believer in the return of Jesus Christ and the battle of Armageddon, I found several parallels. This is my personal observation, and you may have your own.

The Andy Griffith Show: The 3 Ben Weaver's and 2 Floyd Lawson's
Thanks to syndication, cable, and streaming services we can watch old school classic television favorites as much as we desire. Often, in taking that second, fifteenth, fortieth, or even 100th, viewing of a popular program we realize things that we did not notice when these TV shows first aired. One television show where there is much trivia is The Andy Griffith Show. One fact that may have not been noted by many viewers during the past 60 years is that there were three men who portrayed department store owner Ben Weaver on this classic series. There were also two different actors who played the town barber Floyd Lawson.

Singing for your supper has roots in Christmas
There are traditions associated with the holiday season that have been carried out for years. Many times the origins of these yearly rituals are not thought about or perhaps not even understood. There are phrases in Mother Goose tales and children's poetry may not mean much today but had great significance during the time in which they first came to light. This is the case with a children’s nursery rhyme from the 18th century called Little Tommy Tucker which is as follows:

Winter Solstice the longest night of the year is responsible for the biggest holiday of the year
There are a lot of myths and legends surrounding the Winter Solstice, which takes place on December 21. This day is also known as the hiemal solstice or hibernal solstice, This is a mid-winter occurrence that happens twice a year when one of the Earth's poles, North or South, has its maximum tilt away from the Sun. It occurs once each in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. The Winter Solstice is the day with the shortest period of daylight and the longest night of the year. As the Sun shines in the sky, on December 21 it will be at its “lowest daily maximum,” while at the pole, there is continuous darkness or twilight during the winter solstice. The reverse takes place during the Summer Solstice.

The Charlie Brown Christmas tree lesson I learned
At the time my husband and I met in 1976 we both had large families. By the time we had our third child, we were giving Christmas gifts to about 30 different individuals and we loved it. Everyone had good jobs and there was never any stress regarding holiday spending. The biggest part of the holiday was that everyone put up a 6 foot or taller Christmas tree. It was magical to see the various trees decorated and all the presents lying beneath. Fast forward to 2020 and much had changed. A majority of our loved ones have passed away and COVID has shifted the way many people are celebrating this year.

‘Here we come a wassailing’s’ dark origin during Christmas
Christmas traditions as we know them today have evolved over the decades and sometimes the celebration was not so merry and bright. There was a time when the December festivities for Roman Bacchanalia, (or Saturnalia,)and the Yule Feast of the Norse countries were filled with “ lascivious ness and debauchery”. There was drunkenness, orgies and excessive feasting for weeks. Christians during that time wanted to hinder the activities they thought to be immoral by celebrating the birth of Christ on December 25. Their efforts backfired however when a number of people combined the two and celebrated Christmas in the same manner as the other mid winter observances. Everyone put their own spin on the holiday and inebriated young men found a way to rob the rich and line their own pockets.

Eddie Kendrinks and Mevin Franklin: The iconic voices behind Silent Night by “ The Temptations”
A beloved rendition of Silent Night Over the years, I’ve heard many people, (myself included) who say "Christmas just ain’t Christmas until you hear The Temptations sing their rendition of Silent Night. I recall one holiday season when for whatever reason I did not hear this popular Christmas tune on the radio. Although I can listen anytime I desire at home, even during the summer, I always enjoy randomly hearing the Temptations singing Silent Night when I’m in the car so I can sing along.

Christmas Trees: The origin and evolution.
The history of Christmas trees goes back further than the December holiday. Evergreens were used in Ancient Rome and Egypt and there are some stories that say those tres were worshipped as gods. The cutting down of trees continued with the German tradition of candlelit Christmas trees which was brought to America in the 1800s. The tradition as we now know it began in the 26th century when Christians brought decorated trees into their homes during the holiday season, not to worship but as a winter decoration for the celebration on December 25.

Never had a bedroom headache in 44 years
I’ve been with my husband a total of 44 years. In all that time I’ve never had a bedroom headache and never said no to making love. I have listened to women give varying reasons why they have said no to their spouses and that is their right. I used to read letters to Dear Abby and Ann Landers where wives said they hated their husbands touching their breasts or swatting them on the behind. I look at those as terms of endearment but not everyone thinks the same way on the subject. I’m speaking for the other team because there are wives like me who love the attention.
