I Would Eat Them in a House and with a Mouse
Initially, when I think of summer, I think of a beach barbeque. I think of hot dogs, watermelon, pasta salad and even baked beans. As delicious as all of those foods are, they do not bring up the same level of nostalgia. Feelings are important when it comes to describing a food that brings you joy. When the smell, taste or look of a food can send you back down memory lane, it just adds to the satisfaction. The reasons why the foods I listed above do not do that, is because we continue to use them for many occasions outside of a breezy summer barbeque. For instance, Thanksgiving food has all the hype because we typically wait a whole year to eat all those traditional thanksgiving dishes. The wait and the anticipation is why our mouths water every year. This is why I decided to talk about a food that I rarely eat, that is green eggs and ham.

Faux Pa
I was hesitating if I wanted to share my story with the world. I grew up an only child with a single mother. On Father’s day, I celebrated my mother because she played both roles in my life. The story I was told about my father was that he lived somewhere in Texas and did not want anything to do with us. My mother did such an amazing job raising me that I was never really curious about who he was. I did not want to go searching for someone that did not care about me. I also believe that I may learn things that I did not like and I was content with my life as it was. The downside is that I always wondered my true ethnic background, for I am mixed race. I even wondered if I had long lost siblings or cousins that I could have had in my life. So when I was about 25 years old I decided to do one of those DNA tests that tell you what parts of the world you are from. This test was fascinating because I was from so many unexpected countries. I felt a sense of clarity and thrill about knowing this information because I only knew about one side of my culture.

Impossible Journey
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. They had just entered the Valley after thousands of years of being in hiding, yet still I am drunk and ready to die. Sitting on a beer stained couch next to some belligerent college guy trying to feel me up is when this revelation hits me. He doesn’t know I am only seventeen. My coworker, Jessica, who I would barely call my friend dragged me out to this party and ditched me the second she saw her latest hookup. I didn’t really care. In fact, I didn’t really care about anything anymore.

Sleeping Beauty Never had a 9 to 5 or WiFi
As I get older, I totally understand why people choose sleep over socializing. We are just too damn tired and being an adult is really hard these days, especially if you’re a millennial. I literally have to think of 5 different things just for my skincare routine, so just imagine how exhausting it is to live life. I wanted to start this piece similarly to recipes online where you get the backstory of the recipe when all you want to know is if it was 1 teaspoon or 1 tablespoon of paprika. Luckily for you, this is a short story and ad free.
