I woke up and he was no longer beside me. I glanced at the clock beside my bed. It was around nine thirty in the morning. He was gone from my bed yet it still smelled like Old Spice and fabric softener with a soft touch of almond. I shuffled out of our bed and moved towards the fridge. He left a note: You know why I had to do this. He signed it with his name J.D.

I Sometimes Break Into Construction Sites
I have been alive for more than 28 years. That is not a very long time if you think about it. I am still relatively young and active. Yet, I am here still trying to figure out how the universe works and how I can improve my life. However, I am also one of those people where things just kind of...happen around me, and I have no clue how I got there in the first place. I make snap decisions, and I somehow stumble across adventures, which I never knew I could experience. So, when this Vocal Media challenge popped up, I knew I had to share this experience. This is the story of how I broke into a construction site... entirely by accident. How is that possible, you ask? Well, let me tell you.

Growing up I always somehow felt out of place. I struggled to make friends and I often found myself awkward and a little weird. I can hold conversations and express my opinions without offending anyone. Maintaining friendships has been hard as I moved schools a lot. Being teased was nearly an everyday occurrence until High School when. I enjoyed the arts and in eleventh grade, I decided to take a drama class and I have no idea how that happened or what my decision-making process was then maybe I thought it would raise my GPA? I had no idea.

Date Gone Wrong
My heartbeat raced wildly nearly exploding. How did I get myself into this situation? It was a date. A simple stupid date. I know my friends warned me of what could happen when online dating in New York, but none of it was supposed to happen to me. I gripped my hands together and my knuckles were turning white and my whole body was shaking. My mouth was taped over all I could do was breathe through my nose. I just have to wait for him to leave and then I can get myself out of this situation. I watched youtube videos of how kidnapped girls get themselves out of situations like this. My cellphone was still in my pocket and they still have not taken it away. Someone has to know I am in the bad part of New York. My sister was often following my steps and my whereabouts, she should know that I usually don't hang out in back alleys and dark basements. This was not my ideal situation. "Okay, I am off. You stay here," he said and he went upstairs they creaked as he proceeded outside of the basement and he shut the door and left me in the dark, cold basement tied up against the wall. He was gone finally. I reached for my shoelaces and tied them together tightly, I could hear my own breathing as I did so. I started to rub the tape of my hands against the laces. I moved quickly, back and forth, back and forth I told myself as I continued to rub the tape and laces against each other. The tape was starting to fray. I breathed as much as I could through my mouth trying to get the tape off of my mouth. The tape started to loosen. I heard footsteps and panic had filled me the hairs on the back of my neck rose. I could feel the temperature of my face rise, sweat started to drip down my forehead. The tape finally ripped.

How to Do Online Dating Right
Dating…ugh so hard to find the right match. Especially in a pandemic! How on earth are you supposed to find anyone? Well, I have been there. I’m not saying I’m an expert on this subject matter. I have had a bad set of dates, but I have also had some relatively good ones and it also led me to my present relationship. I’m hoping to give someone a good piece of advice when it comes to online dating and scoping out the profile of that really good-looking guy and whether he is worth saying yes to when he asks you on a date.
