The Ascent of the Peacocks
A Ballerina's Story

I must share this story with you. This tale is about underdogs. Many thought that our tribe and ancestors were cursed, but this is a misconception. The Peacock people were used and abused and treated as though they were stooges. Our tale begins when one day we discover a hidden mystery about the Peacocks. Our pillars consist of elders which include Simurgh, Mrs. Julia, and other important tribe leaders. Mrs. Julia is my favorite elder because she is so sweet but sassy. Mrs. Julia provides a lot of advice and many gems that I wrote down in my journal so that I could remember them.
Mrs. Julia told me that birds of a feather flock together. Because Herman flocked toward me I thought he was my friend but he was only using me. Herman took a lot from me. He is a narcissist and Machauvanist. This means that most people have not seen his true side because image is everything to Herman. However, when he is alone with the people who really care for him, he takes advantage of them.
My mother is known as Empress Amari. My father is the great emperor Mofe. Our ceremony begins with a Dance of Joy by Lord Isaac. Isaac is our Minister of Arts and Music. Isaac begins the Dance of The Love Recitation. Our village girls will perform Danse De Paonne. The males performed Etapes D’Alpha. It is performed by our greatest twin actors Kobi and Kari. Finally, Jacques-Richaud will finish with a song of Blessing.
While we were planning our great celebration and beginning the commencement. We noticed dragons swarming around our great kingdom. The dragons are awful creations. My great father Mofe told us to continue the blessings and our great festival. I was worried because I knew how horrible the dragons were. They killed Malcolm, Luther, and Mosiah more than 30 years ago. My mother would tell me about these great leaders of our tribe.
She bragged about how young, gifted, creative, and handsome they were, but in one big sweep, the dragons had burned up our village. They kidnapped Malcolm, Luther, and Mosiah. These great warriors refused to eat the dragon enemies' food and accept their demands. When they finally released them, the three were emaciated and bearly made it how to our village. They died less than a minute after they return. Our great medicine men and wise council had no time to restore them.
As we were celebrating our festival, I heard a loud noise, and great smoke was everywhere. The dragons had taken over. The White Dragons had occupied Mount Cameroon. This mountain belonged to the Peacocks, The dragons who were in the valley, would on this brutal day take over the Sapphire Mountains. The Dragons were everywhere but in the end, the Peacocks would arise. For this reason, I call this event the Ascent of the Peacocks. Why am I telling you this? Well this story is about what seems to be the annihilation of Peacocks by the Dragon Clan. But from the ashes, my people rose again and regained worth, wealth, and prosperity.
The dragons had oppressed the Peacocks for so long, taking what did not belong to them. The Red and White Dragons had made us slaves and had violated and maltreated my people for over 400 hundred years.
This is the story of how my ancestors were able to go and retrieve what belonged to them. But in order to recover, reconstruct and restore what we had lost from the Dragons, we had to go through the Deep Dark Dusty Gap.
Simurgh told us that we must go back and take what was ours. He called this Sankofa. Sankofa is a Ghanaian expression that is represented by a magical bird whose head turns backward looking toward the past. I like the way it is phrased that it isn’t taboo for you to go back and fetch what you forgot.
Simurgh, our wise priest, had advised our magical tribe of the importance of recovering what was and still is ours. Simurgh was our anointed Messenger between the Earth and the Sky or the Heavens. But Simurgh warned that we would have to fight. The Elders of our Village are Called the Sensors. Our older village told the youth that we had so much to be grateful for despite our circumstances.
And although Peacocks are known to be proud, we had lost hope and needed to restore our honor. I am Anastasia, part Phœnix and part Peacock. I am gifted in music, learning, and dancing. For centuries my people had created great artwork. In our tribe, classical dancing known as ballerina had originated. I was very shy but my father taught me wisdom and tricks on how to overcome this shyness and to dance before great crowds of people.
My very existence was magical and phenomenal. Although I tried to be peaceful and loving toward all beings. I found that I would be betrayed by jealous so-called friends. These beings did not realize that in the midst of blessings and great riches that there is a great struggle. I was wounded in this battle. I had lost my magical powers and my blue and green feathers had become white and gray.
I ran into the Battle of the Valley and was ambushed by the Skink, known as Bristle Dust and Half-Baked Hermie. Both of them were supposed to have been my friends but they had led me to a Great Fire in the Valley. This fire was found in the Purple Forest which was about a mile before we reached Drought Valley. At the very end of Purple Forest, Bristle Dust and Half-Baked Hermie used an evil magical spell to cover the fire. I walked into the fire unaware and I would have burned to death if I did not have Phoenix DNA in my blood. The fire caused excruciating pain which almost blinded me forever and left me comatose for a few hours. Things were a blur as I straddle between reality and the dream world.
The Sensor told us that greatness brings fiery pain. The best brings recognition with notoriety. But they warned that in order to be recognized that one must sacrifice. Of course, Peacocks normally refer to a male who has great trains but in our magical tribe, even the females had great trains. During this great battle, I lost my train. Because our tribe was show-offs. I was worried because I would not be able to perform and sing like I was raised to do when I was really young. Our tribe learned the art of showmanship. We could dance, sing and perform special martial arts called Donga. It is also known as Zulu stick fighting. The great Shaka Zula had taught my father Mofe. My father the great warrior had trained all of the men of our kingdom until recently how to stick fight.
The Peacocks excelled in the arts. Our people are great mathematicians. We had our own underground Pyramids and Hidden Sanctuary. Our people built these great buildings using high-level mathematics like Trigonometry, Calculus, and Geometry. All of these great constructions were done without TI-84 Plus. Our kingdom is a great kingdom was envied by many.
So that we did not bring attention to ourselves we would deliberately sing badly during the day. It is the nature of organisms to be jealous. Therefore we tried to hide some of our gifts so that other organisms would not become jealous. Therefore, when Bristle Dust and Half-Baked Hermie betrayed me I was surprised but I wasn’t devastated because the oldest Matriarch known as Julia Wealthy Wings gave a lot of advice and she shared her wisdom about life with me daily. “
Mrs. Julia Wealthy Wing says” When a man or woman gives a reason why he or she loves, you should break up because true love doesn't need a reason.” Mrs. Wealthy Wings is our village midwife and she has assisted in birthing many of our village children.
Many brag and praise Peacocks for their beauty. We are charming and witty. But our beginning is not pretty. Many Peacocks are ugly when they are younger. However, eventually we are transformed into iridescent beauty like the sky with rainbows after the rain. Did you know that Peacocks possess all the colors like the rainbow? Well, we do and this is amazing!
Our powers had come from long ago when the Ancient of Days interacted with his people and walked in the Garden of his beloved. Because of our people's devotion and dedication, the Ancient of Days rewarded us with mystical powers. Some say the power came from the Peacocks' integrity and that the Creator, God, blessed us because of their close relationship with him. These Peacock people loved virtue and holiness. The Mbulu clan or Peacock clan had risen to fame and saved the people on Earth from great destruction because of our faith, hope, and charity.
As the Peacock people lived out our Motto, “ unity, progress and work. Our ancestors had migrated from Congo. I am sharing a great secret that many do not know. Our tribe had the ability to take on the form of People or Peacocks. Most like our true form of the Peacock but to protect ourselves from other organisms, we walked among Homo Sapiens as such. The people who lived by Purple Forest.
Alongside the tribes of Peacock dwelt the Eagle Tribe who came from West Africa especially Nigeria. The Eagle tribe occupied Gol Mountain and inhabited the Serengeti. Also, another tribe that lived close to the Peacock was the Lion Tribe.
Let's continue our story. How did our tribe recover from the White and Red Dragons? It was a surprised ambush. The Great Mofe had strategized a plan before our great celebration. He had instructed specially trained warriors to hide in the Great Cango Caves. Other warriors were hidden in our underground castles. They were told that if the Great Mofe did not return in less than 2 days that they would know that dragons had attacked us. My father called me his "Obere Mma meaning little beauty. He advised that a great strategy of war is to always have your enemies underestimate you. Therefore while the dragons were circling our celebration, my father was sitting and eating, while plotting a strategy. My mother was a bundle of nerves after the war. She told my father don't ever do this again.
His plan worked. As the dragons were tying up my father and mother, the Great Warriors came and annihilated the White Dragons, first. The White Dragons are unctuous. They fake loving people. This group of organisms always had a hidden agenda while smiling in your face. They pretended to be humble while plotting to take everything that belonged to us. They had stolen our songs, property, food, cuisine, dances, and labor. We found out that a few of our warriors had helped the Dragons.
The culprits and traitors who had sold us for Draco Money were Kojo and Anansi. Kojo and Anansi had promised the White Dragons to help them take down our great kingdom, but the White Dragons betrayed them and made them slaves. Adjo and Adio had to save Kojo and Anansi after our great tribe recovered, restored, and reconstructed from our great losses.
We restarted our great victory with my famous Victory Dance. Then my great beloved sang the Crown Song. Finally, Bucchi ended the celebration with a great worship song called the Blessing.
