The Winter's Art. Content Warning.
Misty winter morning! As soon as I close my eyes, a scene appears on the screen of my mind. A little village in the bone-chilling winter. At one end of the fog-shrouded farmer's backyard, the water is boiling. All the children of the house are sitting around the edge of the fire. On top of the lid covered with the skillful hands of the smiling farmer wife, a small bowl covered with rice flour, new date molasses and grated coconut is being fried in a cloth. Descending hot smoky steamed cakes one by one on each person's dish. This picture is a well-known winter picture of a traditional rural Bengal of extreme kindness, affection and love and unbreakable bonds of tradition.
