You Are a Badass Deck: Use your secret weapons — Make a playlist of songs that gets you pumped up, listen to a motivational podcast, surround yourself with pictures of people who think you’re awesome, wear clothes that make you feel sexy and smart, dance, scream, pound your chest, go for a run while listening to the theme from Rocky — figure out what makes you feel like you could carry a horse over your head and do it as often as possible. Photo of people who love and care about me:

People interested in the good life are mine. My sister was from Northern MN and had lived in the Southwest—a sample of the t-shirt sold for a fundraiser in her memory. My daughter is the model—author photo.

Sexy and smart clothes and dancing: clothes do not make me feel sexy or smart. It is attitude. Although dancing regalia (my jingle dress or shawl) to dance in a powwow or at Powwow for Hope will sometimes do that for me.

Scream: I had to have screaming lessons once when I had some screaming in my head and didn’t know how to let it out. I learned. And, I was told to scream in the car or house when alone, whenever I have the need. I haven’t needed to since I was 30.

Pounding my chest: That reminds me of Tarzan. I watched that as a young person. So making that noise can be done whenever. I always think of pounding the chest as something males may do.

The theme from Rocky and running: I am not a runner and never have been. I can however do that when walking. Usually, I read or watch television as I walk on the treadmill. Instead, I will listen to the theme from Rocky sometime soon.

What makes me feel like I could carry a horse over my head: I haven’t figured this out yet. I will let you know once I do.

When we trust that we live in an abundant universe and allow ourselves to give freely, we put ourselves in a position to receive abundant amounts in return. Jen Sincero’s affirmation, intention-setter, wake-up call, reminders of how powerful and lovable you are cards.

Giving freely is such an important concept. I make an effort to do this every day and notice the rewards of doing this. Early in my recovery, I was told that it is important to give and by giving I will feel the gift of being given to.

When I welcome a newcomer with how they help me, that is the truth. By sharing with them I am rewarded over and over again. I get to keep what I have by giving it away.

Many times I would grumble about being woken during the night to listen to another struggling with sobriety/addiction or someone’s family member’s behavior. Sometimes it was morning when I got off the phone.

Then, I almost always felt refreshed and believed I was given much more than I could ever give the person who called.

When I have a fundraiser for the American Indian Cancer Foundation yearly, I recognize the importance of giving to others' fundraising activities or causes.

With a goal of $500. each year, I know that has built to 1200 dollars a year due to those connections made in fundraising from year to year. Giving back for what others have given, isn’t always possible. I don’t have to worry about that though as I do believe the universe will take care of them.

The song by Creedance Clearwater Revival was a song I was raised on when was a young child of the 70's. Giving whatever one can is a help from money to whatever.
