This Is Getting Ridiculous
I Wonder How Many Times This Will Be Rejected. (Once)

Introduction
Stephanie Hoogstad published this article yesterday, and I said it was probably not too much of a problem, but maybe it could be:
The Reason Why With Examples
My latest poem was rejected because it contained the word "Espinela" a few times, because that is the form that I used. The solution is to remove the "offending" words, publish, then re-add the words you removed to get the story published.
Using a foreign word or phrase does not make the story in a foreign language, so phrases like "c'est la vie", "carpe diem" and "status quo" should be fine, and the last one is also a band name, so it may appear on playlists.
Two years ago, Vocal had this challenge:
It required entrants to make up a new word, and under the current regime, every entry would have been initially rejected.
Love to hear your experiences and thoughts.
The music is "Rejection" by AC/DC.
And yes, it did get rejected initially:

Yeah and pretty hard to edit it into English when it is already written in English, LOL. Had same issue but then I used Safari and the rejected ones posted.
Good job, Mr. Mike, but I had that issue a few years ago when I wrote spiritual type stories and they wouldn't publish for the word 'Lord' or 'God' was written. Now we can use those words.
Hang in there, Rejection is just part of the journey, but I get how annoying it is when it feels like the rules are just getting in the way of creativity. Keep pushing through
Ugh, this is so frustrating. I hope they fix this soon
Thank you for bringing more attention to this, Mike. I think that they must have changed something in their program and it caused a glitch. The more we talk about it, the more likely it will be that they will fix it.
Late to the party, but I wasn't aware that this was a thing either.
It seems you are not the only one affected my the glitch thats going on. https://shopping-feedback.today/fiction/vocal-media-need-new-glasses%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
I was trying to publish a review of a Henry James book and there were literally no words that weren't in English and it was still rejected twice for not being in English...
I found if I explain what the word means ( even if broadly understood) it works for me. Since so many have been rejected I tend to curb my use of non-standard English usage though. It does down my style since I am poly-lingual.
I wasn’t aware this was a thing. I published two separate pieces a while back (a fiction story and a recipe) that included words in Haitian kreyol. They both went through no problem at the time. I think non English words here and thete can actually enrich a piece of primarily English writing.
I think it's a glitch that needs some working out...didn't have the problem today. The drafts section needs some sorting.
Mike I get this nearly every poem but it’s all in English ? Since yesterday also
Since when the system started flagging or rejecting stories which contain a foreign word or a word that somehow the system doesn't recognise?
Nice
Had the same fucking problem with my latest sexy poem (I think because it used {} brackets, because once I changed them to rounded ones, it was accepted) and my latest horror story was rejected for similarly banal and stupid reasons. lol. You're right, though. It's becoming a problem and good job they aren't running that type of challenge right now. We'd all be fucked.
