Something Happened On Vocal

Introduction

I am glad that Vocal has its status page up, although they need to be a little faster in identifying issues. You can check it out here:

Having said that, when I am working as a financial administrator/system analyst at work, people will come to me and tell me that there is something wrong with "X". They don't identify the nature of the problem or tell me what "X" is.

I know Vocal is in this position when the system stops working, but it looks like it is fixed, and I thank them for that.

Yesterday

When I worked on an IBM mainframe, we had an IBM-published book of error codes. One of them, maybe ERROR 4392, had an explanation that read something like:

"There is no explanation for this error"

We still had to fix it, and there are times when Vocal must be in that position with the platform. Today it is running smoothly.

How It Affected Me

I was unable to like an read comments, and I expect it was the same for others. I got very few reads, less than thirty, and maybe one or two comments.

I did manage to write a story for the "Everything Looks Better From Far Away" challenge, but that has not been read or commented on by any Vocal Creator so far, so it may get one or two today. It already has a comment, so I expect it will get more.

It was also impossible to share stories with an automatic image, so I did that manually. The other thing was that if someone managed to click through to the story, it wouldn't load, and we all know what we do when a page doesn't load: we leave and don't go back.

Also, I have been suspended from Nightcafe for three days for transgressing their rules, but I will be able to use it on Friday, and I do have a thousand images on Pixabay that I can use, and I can screenshot my images on Nightcafe.

On the upside, our book is selling well (my collaboration with Angie Livingstone), being my most expensive and profitable self-published book so far, and it comes out as an ebook on September 1st 2025.

Conclusion

I think today will be a better day on Vocal for all of us.
