Eight Vocal Challenges Complete And Suggestions For Rearrangement Of The Communities

Even I Didn't Expect To Complete Them All So Quickly

Introduction

When I saw that Vocal had eight challenges on the go it hit me and a few others badly. This is not a criticism of Vocal because it gives people a lot of choices if they want to enter a challenge, and I know Vocal Creators who will only enter an official challenge.

This is how I dealt with it, with help from friends and Facebook Vocal groups.

So Now It's Done

I doubt I will enter any more of these challenges, and have a lot more places to pull inspiration from for stories and poetry.

Yesterday I was talking with a wonderful friend and she said most people see those eight challenges as a smörgÄsbord but I see it as a complete project. She laughed a lot when I told her I had completed them all because the closing date for the final one is January 2025.

I was thinking of linking my stories here but they are all on the first two pages of my profile apart from my Fantasy Prologue II series (which incidentally has only three days to go, so these eight will become seven) that starts here:

One of the good things is that these eight Challenges cover seven different communities so everyone should be able to find a challenge to enter. That takes me to the second part of this piece.

Vocal Communities

A long time back Vocal talked of adding new Communities but there are already forty-eight of them and some of those are virtually dead in the water as far as Top Stories are concerned. This is a piece I wrote on the situation with a suggestion for combining some communities.

This is taken from the above:

There are forty-Eight Vocal Communities with another four mooted about snine months ago. Many communities could be combined, in my opinion,

Geeks & Gamers

Cleats & Unbalanced

Chain & Trader

Proof & Potent

I thought that combining communities would be awkward but thanks to Vocal's Editor improvements we can easily move stories between communities. So for instance "Proof" becomes "Proof & Potent" and "Potent" becomes another community, say "Spiritual" or "Unofficial Challenges".

The stories that were in "Potent" can be left there, or Vocal might be able to change the community for all of them, or the creators could move them.

I would love one of the Communities to be for "Unofficial Challenges" because we run a monthly thread in Vocal Social Society and in November we have seven unofficial ones. Wouldn't it be an idea to have an "Unofficial Challenges" community to give them permanent exposure without having to be a Top Story?

Conclusion

Thank you for reading and I hope I have given you something to ponder.

The music is "Go" by Public Service Broadcasting, which is appropriate for us all.

Impressive that you can tick off all those challenges when I haven’t even decided whether I will be entering any. Your productivity is astounding.

  • You are an excellent goal setter! Meanwhile, I stare at challenges until the last minute, lol.
