Your generosity to Wikipedia is a gift to the world!
Dear Novlet,

Have you ever experienced that special feeling of being part of a community? Wikipedians have a word for that feeling of belonging and appreciation: WikiLove. As a donor to the Wikimedia Foundation, I'm sure you've felt WikiLove, even if you didn't know the word for it until now. That spirit of community is essential to our goal. No matter our role, we're all on the same mission together: to create, use, and share the world's knowledge with everyone.
As our fundraiser comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to share some WikiLove for you. It’s your generosity that helps keep Wikipedia alive and vibrant. Your gift supports the 265,000+ volunteers, organizations, and groups that collaborate across 14 Wikimedia projects to bring the world’s knowledge to everyone, no matter where they are in the world. Thank you, Novlet.
Did you know?
In addition to all of the work volunteers do to maintain Wikipedia as a trustworthy, global resource, many participate in contests to share and celebrate the world’s culture and history through photography and video: The “Wiki Loves” contests.
These events are the visual expression of the deeply human work the Wikimedia community does: sharing knowledge as an act of love. Love for our folklore, love for our natural and cultural heritage, and love for the world we all share.

Wikipedia about Wikipedia
Wikipedia, a free-content online encyclopedia written and maintained by a community of volunteers known as Wikipedians, began with its first edit on 15 January 2001, two days after the domain was registered. It grew out of Nupedia, a more structured free encyclopedia, as a way to allow easier and faster drafting of articles and translations.
English Wikipedia is the most-read version of Wikipedia, accounting for 48% of Wikipedia's cumulative traffic, with the remaining percentage split among the other languages. The English Wikipedia has the most articles of any edition, at 6,772,568 as of January 2024. It contains 10.9% of articles in all Wikipedias, although it lacks millions of articles found in other editions. The edition's one-billionth edit was made on January 13, 2021.
English Wikipedia, often as a stand-in for Wikipedia overall, has been praised for its enablement of the democratization of knowledge, extent of coverage, unique structure, culture, and reduced degree of commercial bias. It has been criticized for exhibiting systemic bias, particularly gender bias against women and ideological bias.
While its reliability was frequently criticized in the 2000s, it has improved over time, receiving greater praise in the late 2010s and early 2020s, having become an important fact-checking site. English Wikipedia has been characterized as having less cultural bias than other language editions due to its broader editor base.

Congrats on Top Story!🥳
Excellent writing and some brilliant perspectives. I do use Wikipedia for some information, but I am cautious because sometimes that information can be biased and unreliable.
Awe-inspiring work! Keep up the remarkable effort—congrats!
Back to say congratulations on your Top Story! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊
Every one has their hand out. Great article thanks for sharing and Congratulations
Top Story Time...and I may have to consider contributing!
Congrats on the TS.
This is such a great piece! Wikipedia is an awesome resource I definitely feel like its worthy of support.
Novel, thank you for sharing this!!! Congratulations on Top Story too!!!
This is going to sound really stupid, but it never occured to me that Wikipedia came in different languages. I bet that's a really interesting cultural study, right there!
I use Wikipedia all the time and have contributed when asked. I think it's brilliant. I remember my wife being told she couldn't use it for her nursing degree.
People always say Wikipedia is not reliable but I feel they're pretty accurate compared to other sites and they do give a lot of information. Thank you so much for sharing the WikiLove! 🥰🥰🥰
Oooo thanks for this Allen! ❤️
My wife is on Wikipedia all the time it seems. I hear her saying over & over, "Hey Google, show me the Wikipedia page for...."
I do every year. For Wikipedia. It's a good deal.
I made my first and only Wiki update last month! Thank you for sharing more info about the organization.
Our nursing program didn't allow students to use as a reliable source, but I like Wiki because it's a quick, comprised source of info.
I haven't really used Wikipedia much. mainly because it was drummed out of me at uni an account of it allegedly not being a reliable source. But I'll definitely check it out again - Thanks for sharing Novel 🤍
👍🏾👍🏾 Very informative!
I have heard some criticism of Wikipedia's reliability, but I have found it to be very accurate . . . or perhaps I just don't know enough to know better! Great article, Novel! Fantastic that you support their efforts to keep us all informed!
