Part 2 of my Vocal Investment journey
Serious thoughts!
I have finally invested with the great hope that I am still around in five years to see where this is all leading; tomorrow, after all, is promised to no one. On the flip side, I am also hoping that I will be very rich. Written with a smile.
I watched the Investor Day Webinar, hoping for clarity, and listened to all the reasons why one should invest in the budding and hopefully rising and maturing young-ish company. I am not sure if I learned a great deal to instill me with overwhelming confidence for the task ahead.
What I appreciated was the effort that they were willing to exert on their part to make the decision process a bit more palatable.
Will there be more of these webinars going forward to bring people closer to a feeling of camaraderie and belonging on Vocal. Will there be other timely gatherings with just a chance to say hello to all Vocalites, or maybe a 10 minute meditative video, relaxing together. I am just throwing out possible scenarios from which ideas may become fruits on the Vocal tree.
Frankly, I was surprised that less than a hundred and fifty people showed up for the inaugural Vocal Webinar. I figured that curiosity at least would have had hundreds eager to watch. Hopefully, I was reading the screen wrong, or I may be right.
Despite my eagerness to invest initially, I have only just channeled a few dollars into this promising endeavor.
That being said, could someone at Vocal please make sure that all is well with my effort, I did receive confirmation that suggests that I am only waiting now for final approval. I say this because I received an email (hopefully it was a global Vocal email) reminding me to invest.
I joined Vocal in 2021. No, I have never won any big challenges, or any consolation prizes. Some top stories have graced my profile. But bottom line is, I LOVE TO WRITE.
So, I figure that in order to do so, I should try to support the platform going forward. Yes, they did promise us that if we wrote stories and got them published we would be paid. Many companies offer their employees or supporters shares in the same manner. Yes, we all want to get paid, not pay out our meager wages to support companies.
We have to look at the bigger picture sometimes, ask ourselves what it is that we really enjoy. There are so many reasons to not invest in our writing platform. There are even less reasons to invest. We each have to weigh our personal involvement in, and our heartfelt purpose for why we initially chose to join the creator environment.
What advice does Vocal have for older investors, five years is nothing for the younger folks on the writing spectrum, yet it is worrying for others. There is fear that this aspect of the ask is a determining factor for the reluctance by certain not so young individuals.
Truthfully. To me, the Webinar was mainly focused on the Vocal aspect of the whole enterprise, which was the true purpose BTW. Yet, they somehow need to speak directly to the hearts of the people of Vocal. We are like kids wanting the approval of their parents, while the parents just need to find common ground for all to find peace and calm.
People are won over with warmth and caring. Sadly, Vocal still needs to harness this quality and resonate it out to those who feel like they are not really appreciated or are even a valued part of it all. This is no easy task to undertake, especially with the sheer volume of written work which needs attention on a daily basis.
No matter what though, not everyone will ever be truly satisfied or happy with whatever efforts are extended.
How important is Vocal to us all? That is the underlying question which determines how we process the new changes on the platform. Do we desire to continue writing and publishing our stories?
Personally, with all the alarming concerns in our ever troubling existence, for me, this is my go-to place for relaxing. Crafting stories is a Zen space where I find peace and escape from the white noise. The frequencies and intensities of life are forgotten, if only for a short while.
I choose to focus on my positives and not the teething steps of the individuals whom I believe are working hard to provide us this tiny bit of escape from the real world.
To invest or not to invest, that is your personal question!!!

Dear Novel - In my biz...often times no comment is the best comment of all. Ya, Butt: VM acts as a 'facilitator' for $10 bucks...such a deal. Being personally involved within our 'Creations' should not be appropriate. We market our own 'products' as we wish to with little interference; 1st amendment freedom respect. And, Novel, that's my "No Comment"...Hmm! Best to you, Chum, J-Bud
I thought about investing and still might. I have other investments going on and have learned to be cautious... Ever since the Russian/Ukraine war started, I've watched my investment portfolio dwindle, lol. But I'm holding on that some recovery will be made. Like Judey said, invest only what you can afford to lose. This article is full of intrigue. Thanks for sharing!
I'm the same as Randy. I didn't invest due to the lack of resources. But I'm so glad you did! I didn't watch the webinar because I completely forgot about it although they sent me a reminder email 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We had to be on the road during the webinar so I knew I couldn't make it. For me, the decision not to invest is simply for a lack of resources & the fact that it is not a decision I can properly make on my own.
love your webinar ideas for building camaraderie. I agree with paragraph 13 as well. Thank you for being a compassionate voice within the community! Happy weekend Novie! Enjoy! Hugs 2 you!
Love your part 2 thoughts on this, I did not attend the webinar. I am uncomfortable with the conflict of interest issues with challenges but they’ll figure it out! I hope you have great returns on your investment:)
I watched it and was none the wiser! Enjoyed your take on it Novel! Hope your investment pulles through! 🤍
I hope in five years your investment is worth multiples of what you put in. I love Vocal and I hope it never goes away. Enough about Vocal lets get to the real reason I'm here, you're writing. And this article was one of the finest examples I've read. So well Done Novel
What an honest look at the situation! I couldn’t invest $509, but I did do $100 as soon as the first ask was made. Some of your thoughts are those I shared. And, A reminder to anyone reading this: always always always only invest money that you can personally afford to lose. That is true for any investment
Grz beat me to the punch! I dithered over investing, and ultimately decided not to at the moment in case it affects how I cab participate here. For instance, entering challenges, that seems like a conflict of interest there and I'd assume I should be excluded from them 🧐
Hey! I can’t invest right now, maybe down the track. Did you not find them warm and welcoming in the webinar or do you mean in general with new writer and members etc. 🤔 Quick note, the last line looks like it might have chopped something off.. Hope you are having a good weekend. 😊👍
