Back On Track On Vocal

But Recycling Stories

Introduction

I am happy I am back publishing new work on my main Vocal account, so the backup one can go into the freezer, but if you want to see what you missed, check here.

Vocal is doing a big system upgrade, and there is a limit on publishing that includes a lot more than just published stories, so I still cannot publish new stories; I have to recycle old ones. The reason for this is a security issue; imagine if a DOS attack started publishing millions of stories on the platform, it would crash it very quickly.

The music is "Recycled Vinyl Blues" by Neil Innes, although the version I have included is by the Rutles.

So Recycling - Benefits and Pitfalls

I had this idea yesterday morning, and used it for a story and immediately got an agreeable communication from Vocal, which means I will be staying as a V+ member, which makes me very happy.

I like to keep all my stories to see how I have progressed, and also some of my old work is still excellent, but some is not that good.

I take these "not so good" stories, move them to draft, strip everything out of them, and then create a new story and publish. That is how I have created this one.

The only slight issue is that I don't know how many reads I have on these recycled stories, and the hearts and comments are carried over from the previous story, but I am OK with that.

Conclusion

So thanks to Vocal getting in touch and my ideas, I am now in a good place, and I might even enter the final two challenges again.

This is another public service announcement, and thank you all for your support throughout my trials.

I'm glad to see that they provided some sort of solution for you. Hopefully they'll be able to fix the root cause before too long!

I'm glad to see there is a sort of solution that works for you. I can understand the reason for the limit but hopefully they eventually come up with a better option. Best of luck in the challenges!
