Challenger Club
In January of 2020, I signed a lease on a 2020 Dodge Challenger GT AWD. Prior to my current car, I had been driving a Mazda 3, and although it was a reliable car, it just wasn’t what I wanted. I ended my Mazda lease a few months early and signed for my Dodge. I couldn’t wait to drive my car everywhere but the world had other plans. My state shut down less than two months into my lease and, by the time I had the for six months, I barely had 3,000 miles on her. Still it is a decision that I would make a thousand times over again.

Sticking it to manual transmission
Does anyone drive a stick shift anymore? I don’t. Haven’t since December 20, 1984. That was the day a chiropractor misread my X-rays and snapped my left knee back into place, thinking he was correcting a dislocation. It swelled up like a boiled ham and never went down. Turns out it was bone cancer, which is a story for another article. The point is, even after a leg-saving surgery months later, I could never physically use a car’s clutch pedal again.

What Happened To Nascar?
Home in my apartment and bored to death, I was flipping channels trying to find something to watch. I can’t remember if it was March 1986 or November 1986, but it was at Atlanta Motor Speedway. A Nascar race being broadcast live. I had stopped on that channel and began watching as this blue and yellow car was just passing other cars at will. In March this driver finished 2nd, in the November race he finished 1st. This was when I became a Nascar fan and Dale Earnhardt Sr became my favorite driver.
