We pretend to be a commuter of the day, and set out in sunny Peterborough to evaluate Yamaha motorcycles.
At a recent press conference, I really saw what made these motorcycles stand out and compete with Honda and lexmotos in the two wheel world.
At Peterborough, we had two motorcycles for our test drive: nmax 125 and D'Light 125. Both companies are entering the motorcycle and commuter car markets in a different way.
The redesigned new nmax style caught my attention when I rolled up the Yamaha flag. While I think D'Light is a typical Scooter - lightweight and compact - nmax is more of a sport / maximum scooter in shape with some of the top-notch new technologies of 2021.
Keep on looking at the d'night assessment coming, but first we'll look at the new nmax. I'll just say it. Nmax really exceeds all my expectations and I'm surprised at its ability on all types of roads; it's very interesting. We set out along road a, then entered the center of Peterborough, recreated the typical commuter journey, and then "went home" in the two lane.
Along the way, I found that Yamaha had spent a lot of effort on the motorcycle that the "force flow" Wind Rider encountered like this. The air is directed around the rider, and a wind deflector is deliberately set up to form a cocoon like protective shell. It is actually very comfortable to ride, clear Maxi style and sporty accents with super comfortable seats.
Is there any new news about nmax in 2021?
There are quite a few updates in 2021. That is, the bluecore 125cc liquid cooled engine has VVA (variable valve drive) and start and stop functions (plus TCS to handle all additional motion functions). A new backbone frame can support larger loads, and new adjustable rear suspension - all exceptions added to an already good specification and popular scooter.
Engine
On the freeway, it can be started smoothly to provide additional advantages; it stops running below 5500rpm for a smooth ride experience. Due to VVA, available torque output is optimized for low speed in cities, and high speeds are everywhere.
At all speeds and power, Yamaha adds a TCS system to reduce wheel rotation and you can turn off if you feel brave. In any case, it's not intrusive.
Once the engine warms, the new "start and stop" system will start, mainly saving fuel during driving. The motor is not engaged and the battery will engage the smart motor generator to turn the crankshaft directly. This means a quiet and effective engine engagement, and it is also an incentive to meet emissions requirements.
The start stop system is a quiet system, and even if the engine is shut down at a junction, you can restart it quickly and pull it off without delay, just screw the throttle. For me, VVA and start-up system are game rules changers on motorcycles.

Rider convenience
The tank is 7.1 liters and can drive about 200 miles - but I'm not sure it's the first time because we're just wandering around town. LCD screen is very clear, giving you all the information you need - plus integration with your phone to inform you of any message, phone and battery level of your phone. This scoot's eternal rival, PCX, has an 8-litre tank - I wonder if people will change VVA into a larger tank and a longer mileage?
At the same time, the new rubber engine liner reduces vibration at high speeds - even at the specified 64 mph (I'm an achievement in itself), and it's still very smooth.
As mentioned earlier, the new backbone framework can withstand the largest box (I am the rider) and a large top box, which you can include if you choose a city package with a larger screen.
Brake and suspension
There are 230 mm discs installed on the front and rear to 13 inch wheels. Naturally, you have abdominal muscles and you can perform steadily all day. The brakes before and after the test feel quite solid, if they are a little soft under the actual braking force - but this may be a positive effect for those who tend to brake fully when they touch and move forward.
This wheel is new and typical for wheels of this size: you have to be careful on a road without flat asphalt. On some of the turnovers, I had some tense moments on the loose gravel road, but it was not unusual on both wheels. With nmax you can get a good dependency without feeling like you're losing grip or facing roundabout with a heavy head.
The suspension setting includes 30mm expansion fork (100mm stroke) and double rear single impact (86mm stroke). Hanging on the road is solid, good, comfortable, but if you find yourself reacting enough on some uneven roads.
Sentence
If I buy Motorcycles on the market, I'm sure to focus on nmax 125 - which may include city bags and larger windscreens. I may also choose the pre tightening force of Olin and the adjustable rebound impact, because why not!
Nmax offers a great ride experience, which looks great and is very suitable for city commuting and strange long-distance travel because it has high levels of comfort. It sets a high standard for luxury max - sport-scooters in 125cc field, and VVA and start stop technology can not be missed. Of course, you can find a cheaper motorcycle, but it doesn't meet all of these requirements.
Nmax harga motor nmax is sold for £ 3399 (OTR) on the market, and you can buy its anodized red, gray, or phantom blue (as shown in the picture). Find more on Yamaha.
