Introduction
On Sunday, we took a coach from Inverness Bus Station to a boat on the Caledonian Canal, which then took us via the Canal and River Ness to the Loch.
These are my impressions of what I thought, with some photographs of the trip.
Loch Ness
I found out that Loch Ness is the biggest body of water in the British Isles, though not the deepest, that is Loch Morar:
The volume of water in Loch Ness is 1.8 cubic miles, and all the water in all the rivers, lakes, and lochs would barely half fill Loch Ness:
That means that if Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster, does exist, it has plenty of places to hide from human searchers. There is a guy who lives on the Loch who looks for Nessie every day.

Above, I am on the boat waiting to set off.

When you are on the Loch, you are aware that it is very deep. We had a fine day, and the boat was smooth, and our guide told us about the various places that we passed on the shore as we sailed toward our destination, Urquhart Castle:

Two of the impressive houses and a boathouse as well.

There were lots of views of this massive body of water, and the little sticky up heads are not Nessie but buoys.

Coming into Urquhart Castle, it is a ruin but one of the most visited in Scotland.

They also have a fully working trebuchet, built by American archaeologists over twenty years ago:

There was a willow pig and a cow sculpture on the way to the visitor centre, as well as a robin that posed for photographs:

Looking at the Loch from the other direction.
Once we were off the boat, it was a coach journey back to Inverness after a very pleasant and interesting journey.
Conclusion
I will probably be back later in the year, but I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and links I shared in this piece.
Thank you so much for reading.
The music is "Water Beastie" from "Rock Drill" by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

Lovely pictures. One of my great shames is not having travelled and explored Scotland as much as I should have by now. But will be making up for that in the coming years. The guy that searches for Nessie everyday was actually on Gone Fishing with Bob and Paul and isn't quite as nutsy as he sounds. I think he's just at a point where he doesn't wanna stop and then the next day someone else finds it. Seemed like a nice chap who loved the mythos and the idea of there being this ancient thing there. So, I thought that was nice, rather than deeming him a nutjob! lol.
Those were beautiful photos! I've always been fascinated with the Loch Ness monster!
Really liked the photos. Since I am of Scottish descent it is great to see pictures of the old homeland. Great work.
Some more beautiful pictures. It looks like it was a lovely day. Enjoyed hearing "Water Beastie" again.
Sounds like an awesome trip. Loch Ness is seriously impressive, and that much water definitely makes you wonder what could be hiding down there. Thanks for sharing this with us!
I loved this. I have always wanted to go here but all the stories about the monster freak me out. I always think that I am going to fall into the water or something. I have no idea what's more frightening, encountering the monster or falling into a body of water like that. I'm glad you had such a nice time though, it looks so gorgeous.
Beautiful pics, and I hope you're enjoying your break! I guess whatever Nessie is may be big, but the lake has enough places for her to hide. Thanks for sharing!
