Somers Holds on for 5-4 Win versus John Jay East Fishkill
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons On Columbus Day, the girls soccer team was up early and John Jay East Fishkill joined the Tuskers for some soccer. At the high school, the Patriots didn’t let a little less sleep bother them and jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 36:02. But extra time on the snooze button wasn’t really a factor for Somers, because playing from behind never looks at the clock, according to Julia Arbelaez.

Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 9)
Week 9's end marked the end of the first half of the NFL's regular season. Nine weeks down, nine to go. However, in the world of Fantasy Football, the home stretch is closing in. It's almost time for us Fantasy Football owners to start preparing for the playoffs, or possibly consolation, and Week 9 was quite a week in Fantasy Football. It definitely was for me, one of my teams improved to 8-1, and all eight of my teams are in a playoff position.

111th Grey Cup Playoffs: Division Semifinals Recap
There is always something special about the playoffs in pro football, especially the opening. In the NFL, it's Wild Card Weekend, and in recent years, it's six games during a three-day weekend. In the Canadian Football League, it's the Division Semifinals, the first stop on the road to the Grey Cup. The second and third place teams in each division battle it out (unless a crossover occurs), with the right to head to that division's top team to face off in the Division Finals.

John Jay Falls 29-13 to Lakeland
See tip, pledge and subscribe buttons below After falling 46-7 last week against Somers, John Jay hoped they would get an easier go versus Lakeland on Thursday October 10. No doubt the Hornets and Wolves were on a much more even keel, but in the end John Jay was still looking for a change in fortunes.

Somers Wins Big Again versus Harrison
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons Crowd Shots Somers treated their fans to three exciting games to start the season, but the fanbase probably didn’t mind consecutive blowouts of John Jay and Fox Lane. So with Harrison possibly putting the Tusker to the test like they did last year in the section finals, drama returning on Sunday October 13 had to be on the minds of the home crowd.

Somers Football and Soccer Win Big
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons For the first three games of the season, Somers had the outcome of games versus Ramapo, Yorktown and Mahopac in doubt when the forth quarter arrived. But there was no such uncertainty versus Fox Lane last week, and John Jay was next on Saturday October 5.

NFL Week 9 Recap: They Can't Keep Getting Away With This!
The Kansas City Chiefs are still undefeated. They sure as hell shouldn't be. Week 9 ended with the Chiefs at home against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team who still has both of their top wide receivers out, and it has showed. Despite this, the Bucs hung on and had two different leads: 7-3 and 17-10, the latter lead coming in the fourth quarter. The game saw DeAndre Hopkins really show out: 8 receptions for 86 yards and two touchdowns, with the second one giving the Chiefs a fourth quarter lead. Bucs had one more chance to tie it up, and with under 30 seconds left, they did just that. 24-24, and KC being forced to punt ended up forcing overtime. KC won the toss, took the ball, and that was it. Touchdown drive won it for the Chiefs.

State of the Green Bay Packers Address
From the moment the regular season's schedule was released, one of the number of games I had circled on my mental calendar was the first outing between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions. November 3. Late window. Game of the week territory. I entered this season figuring that the NFC North would be between the Packers and Lions. Literally no one had the Minnesota Vikings starting 5-0. Though many figured that they'd lose back-to-back and fall to third place because, well, that's what the Vikings do.

John Jay Comes Away with Tie Versus Somers
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons On Tuesday, October 8 John Jay traveled to Somers, and in Mia Bourla’s time, the goalie has only seen losses. So down one with 28 minutes remaining, Tiana Righetti stood one on one in front of the goal, and another loss seemed imminent. “AII I remember was it hitting off my foot,” said the senior, and the save meant more than a 1-0 loss.

NFL Week 8 Recap: Hail Mary to the Commanders
Soooo... let's talk about that Hail Mary, eh?! You know, the Washington Commanders are something special this year. On paper, they were supposed to be in the midst of a rebuild. The NFC East was supposed to be the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles battling for the top spot, while the Commanders would be rebuilding and the New York Giants would be glad that they're not the New York Jets. Yet a funny thing happened after they lost their season opener. They won four straight. They were beaten by the Ravens, but they bounced back big time against the lowly Panthers. Even so, it looked Jayden Daniels would be out for this week, but he suited up for this week's battle against the Chicago Bears.

Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 7)
We are currently in the heart of Week 8, but let's take a look back at Week 7. Week 7 was quite interesting in Fantasy Football, especially for me. Two of my teams who appeared to be down and out are improving, one of them went from 0-4 to 3-4 and in a playoff position. As I stated before, anything can happen in the world of Fantasy Football, as we continue on into the heart of the Fantasy season. I am impatiently waiting for that moment where one or two of my teams clinches a playoff spot--I do have two teams who are 6-1 right now.

CFL Week 20 Recap: Close to the Finish Line
We are down to the final week of the season, but let's take a look back at Week 20, the penultimate week. Only three games were played in Week 20, the last abbreviated week of the season, but the only one with any relevance was the game between the Toronto Argonauts and the Ottawa Redblacks. No, I'm not just saying that because I'm an Argos fan. It's because the other two games had nothing to play for. The lone Friday game featured the Calgary Stampeders and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, two of the three eliminated teams this year. TiCats blasted the Stamps to kick off Week 20. The other game featured the BC Lions and the Montréal Alouettes--two teams who were locked in to their playoff positions. The Lions won, 27-3, to finish at 9-9 this season.
