Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 7)
Analyzing the highest scoring players, by position, during Week 7 of the 2024 season

We are currently in the heart of Week 8, but let's take a look back at Week 7. Week 7 was quite interesting in Fantasy Football, especially for me. Two of my teams who appeared to be down and out are improving, one of them went from 0-4 to 3-4 and in a playoff position. As I stated before, anything can happen in the world of Fantasy Football, as we continue on into the heart of the Fantasy season. I am impatiently waiting for that moment where one or two of my teams clinches a playoff spot--I do have two teams who are 6-1 right now.
With that said, here's a look at the top players from Week 7 in Fantasy Football:
QB: Lamar Jackson

Some people still don't consider this man a QB. Seriously? Here's how fantasy scoring works for quarterbacks: 1 point per every 25 passing yards (or 0.04 points per passing yard), and passing touchdowns are 4 points each. Interceptions are usually a 1 point deduction, and lost fumbles are a 2 point deduction. Lamar Jackson led the way for QBs in Week 7. 281 yards (11.24 points), five touchdowns (20 points), 52 rushing yards (5.2 points), but he did lose a fumble (2 point deduction). Even so, 34.44 points to lead QBs in Week 7. Not bad for a so-called "runningback," eh?
RB: Jahmyr Gibbs

Fantasy scoring for running backs goes like this: 1 point per 10 rushing yards, and touchdowns are 6 points. Receiving scoring rules also apply; 1 point per 10 receiving yards, and touchdowns are 6 points, and there's also PPR (Points Per Reception). In the RB position, Jahmyr Gibbs led the way, running for 116 yards (11.6 points) and 2 touchdowns (12 points), and also had 4 receptions (4 points) for 44 yards (4.4 points). A grand total of 32 fantasy points for Gibbs. Very surprising that Gibbs led for RBs despite the game that Saquon Barkley had against his old team.
WR: Amon-Ra St. Brown

Another Detroit Lion showed out in Week 7, and it was wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Scoring for WRs goes like this: PPR is applied, and most leagues awards a full point per reception. Also, it's 1 point for every 10 receiving yards, and touchdowns are 6 points each. St. Brown's numbers: 8 receptions (8 points), 112 yards (11.2 points), and a touchdown (6 points), for a grand total of 25.2 points. George Pickens, Rashod Bateman, and Brian Thomas, Jr. all finished tied for second in that position with 22.1 fantasy points.
TE: David Njoku

Despite the Cleveland Browns seeing their season die right in front of them, David Njoku managed to take the lead for Week 7 in the TE position. Scoring for tight ends is the same as WRs, and regarding Njoku, he had 10 receptions (10 points) for 76 yards (7.6 points), and a touchdown (6 points), for a total of 23.6 fantasy points. Njoku's total is one point higher than Jonnu Smith's total of 22.6 points, and Mark Andrews showed out and surpassed 20 points for the first time this season.
K: Cameron Dicker

Here's how scoring for kickers goes: extra points are 1 point, of course. Regarding field goals, those under 40 yards are worth 3 points, 40-49 yard FGs are worth 4 points, and those 50 yards or longer are worth 5 points. Unsurprisingly, Cameron Dicker's five field goal effort moved him to the top in the kicker category on in Week 7. Two FGs from 50+ (10 points), two from 40+ (8 points), and a chip shot (3 points), totalling 21 fantasy points. Shame that his performance was wasted.
DEF: Denver Broncos

Here's how scoring for team defenses goes. Regarding scoring defenses, a shutout is 10 points, giving up 1-6 points is 7 points, giving up 7-13 points is 4 points, giving up 14-20 points is 1 point, giving up 21-27 points is no points, giving up 28-34 point is a 1 point deduction, and giving up at least 35 points is a 4 point deduction. Elsewhere, sacks are 1 point, interceptions are 2 points, safeties are 2 points, fumble recoveries are 2 points, blocked kicks are 2 points, and touchdowns are 6 points. The Broncos defense set the bar in their Thursday game and no one else surpassed it. 6 sacks (6 points), 2 fumble recoveries (4 points)--one of them returned for a touchdown (6 points), and they gave up 10 points (4 points). 20 fantasy points for Denver's defense in Week 7.
I started Denver's defense in Week 7, and of course, I had Lamar Jackson in a number of leagues. Week 7 was absolutely wild for sure, and we will definitely see what Week 8 will bring us!
