NFL Week 13 Thanksgiving & Black Friday Recap: Extra Helpings
It's over, Chicago. The bad man can't hurt you anymore. This year's batch of Thanksgiving games started with an NFC North battle between the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears. For the Bears, enough had to be enough. Four days prior, they suffered a devastating OT loss to the Vikings. Of course, before that, the Packers blocked a game winning field goal. And before that, the Hail Mary. The Bears had to go to Motor City to face off against the NFL's lone real 10-1 team... and they were hanging in with them.

Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 8)
Week 8 was quite a wild week in the NFL, and as a result, it had to be even wilder for us Fantasy Football people. It was quite the spectacle, as the heart of the Fantasy regular season continued on for those of us who have an outside shot of making a playoff run. With Week 8 behind us, there's two more weeks before the real big playoff push begins, and if you're at .500 by this time, you may still have a shot at playoff contention.

World Series Game Five: California Love
The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series, but, boy, did it look like the New York Yankees were set to prolong it. The Yankees were on a big high after the Game Four win, which earned us one last home game this year. We became only the fourth team to force a Game Five after falling behind 3-0 in a World Series. No team ever forced a Game Six. It looked like we were on the verge of doing just that. The first inning saw Aaron Judge finally hit his first Fall Classic homer; a two run shot. Jazz Chisholm, Jr. also homered to make it 3-0. Later on, Alex Verdugo's RBI made it 4-0, and Giancarlo Stanton homered for the seventh time this postseason to make it 5-0.

World Series Game Four: The Yanks are Coming, the Yanks are Coming!
With the New York Yankees down 3-0 in this year's World Series, I was still drinking in the fact that we were in the World Series at all. I watched the pregame and saw the World Series logos on Yankee Stadium, and that coupled with that MLB on Fox music that we all know and love, well, it all made me emotional and nostalgic. I waited 15 years for this. It could have went much better for us at this point, but we made it here regardless.

Just One of Those Nights
Monday was a once a year occurrence in the sports calendar: it was the Sports Equinox. The Sports Equinox occurs when all four of the main sports leagues plays actual relevant games on the same day, and it can only happen during World Series time, and even then, it can only happen on a Monday, Thursday, or Sunday, because those days feature NFL games. In the case of Monday, it was Game Three of the World Series and Monday Night Football occurring along with the day's NHL and NBA action.

Four Minutes and 59 Seconds
Nothing is ever easy in the National Hockey League. Honestly, that's just the way I like it. Some teams don't make it easy. The Colorado Avalanche don't make things easy. Honestly, I don't mind that either. What I do mind is when even the easiest things become difficult. That seems to be the case very early in this season.

NFL Week 6 Recap: Karma's a... Well, You Know
You know, maybe...just maybe...Robert Saleh wasn't the problem after all. A number of eyes were on the Monday Night Football contest between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets for many reasons. For one, it's a big divisional matchup, and secondly, the Jets could actually move into first place in the AFC East with a win. The Bills were looking to desperately hold on to a division lead that was slipping after back-to-back losses, but the Jets ended up being the main story because a week ago, they fired Robert Saleh as their head coach.

Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 1)
One of the many awesome attributes of the NFL season is, of course, Fantasy Football. I love Fantasy Football. I started doing it when I entered the NFL's yearly Fantasy Playoff Challenge, which was discontinued last year, and that led me to do the fantasy thing on a yearly basis. This is actually my seventh year playing Fantasy Football, and I've learned so much over the years. I've also won my share of leagues, and I did win one league last year.

NFL Week 1 Recap: New Season, Who Dis?
As the man in the photo often shouts before the ball is snapped, "HERE WE GOOOO!!!" NFL Sunday. It's basically a holiday that comes once a week for 18 straight weeks, not counting playoffs. I've enjoyed NFL Sunday since I was a little boy, and I'm barely old enough to remember when all of the core games took place on Sunday, followed by the Monday game. The Sunday action is usually divided into three time slots; the early window (1PM EST), the late window (4:05PM/4:25PM EST), and Sunday Night Football (8:20PM EST). Usually, it's 14 Sunday games played, but in this, the first NFL Sunday of the 2024 season, it was 13 games played.

CFL Week 9 Recap: Blown Leads Sink Ships
The date was August 3, 2024. The Edmonton Elks were winless, coming off a massive blow out loss to the equally lowly Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Prior to that loss, the other six losses they suffered were all by one possession, and that included the heartbreaking loss to the Ottawa Redblacks, where Ottawa managed to get in field goal range in only eight seconds. It seemed like it would be a good while before the Elks would get Win #1, and with a trip to Regina in store for the Elks, it definitely looked like another drubbing was inevitable.

Four Teams, One Amazing Logjam (AFC North Preview)
Since the 2020 season, the American Football Conference has seen an immense rise in stock. For the longest time, the AFC was the weaker of the two conferences by an immense margin. Now, the AFC is quite beastly. As last season showed us, the core of the conference's strength came from the AFC North. AFC North games have been quite fun to watch lately, especially in the 2023 season. All four teams remained in the race until Week 17, but even then, we saw a rarity. Every team in the AFC North finished with a winning record. Holy moley!
