NFL Week 6 Recap: Karma's a... Well, You Know
The New York Jets lost a key divisional matchup against the Buffalo Bills in their first week after firing Robert Saleh as head coach

You know, maybe...just maybe...Robert Saleh wasn't the problem after all.
A number of eyes were on the Monday Night Football contest between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets for many reasons. For one, it's a big divisional matchup, and secondly, the Jets could actually move into first place in the AFC East with a win. The Bills were looking to desperately hold on to a division lead that was slipping after back-to-back losses, but the Jets ended up being the main story because a week ago, they fired Robert Saleh as their head coach.
So the game was surprisingly full of life and offense, and the first half ended with a nostalgic sight for us Packer fans: an Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary. He's still got it, folks. If only we saw that last week. Anyway, the second half saw Greg Zuerlein tie it at 20 with a field goal, but when he had the chance to give the Jets the lead? Off the upright. Yikes. Bills got to field goal range and made their own to take the lead, but the Jets were moving. A defensive pass interference call kept the Jets' drive alive, but that drive would end with an interception. Bills would later get a first down that would clinch it.
Well, Aaron, you got what you wanted. After you threw a game losing interception, you went to Woody, and got Saleh fired. What happened here? You threw a game losing interception. See, if Saleh was still around, he could have fixed things. He was holding that ship together. Now? You have some character who doesn't have any head coaching experience, and he's tasked with leading the Jets to victory. Of course it fails. But Aaron asked for this. So did Woody. All to protect Nathaniel Hackett. Now the season's pretty much on life support. Hope it was worth it.
As for the Bills, if I know their fans, they'll use this to pound their chests and say that they beat the refs, because claiming to be victims of officiating has been their thing for the last four years. Oh boy. Thanks, Jets. Way to give a crybaby fanbase a reason to talk trash.

Let's move on to two head coaches who actually deserve to be fired, but haven't...yet. First off, Doug Pederson. The Jacksonville Jaguars were in their second home, London, for their meeting with the Chicago Bears. I was positive that the Jags would win because they were coming off their first win of the season. Nope. Bears beat them soundly. Many have said that it's time for Pederson to go. Fans wanted him fired after last season's collapse, an 8-3 start that ended up with the Jags at 9-8 and out of the playoffs. Now, it's worse. The Jags are now 1-5 and have hit rock bottom. It's been a bad week for the Khans. AEW's ratings seem to be the only thing lower than the Jags' playoff chances. Yet Shad Khan remains insistent that this Jags team is the best ever. Oh boy.
Pederson is known for being the head coach of an Eagles team that won Super Bowl LII. Let's talk about the guy who replaced him, shall we?

This guy, who chose to look like Edward Norton from American History X without realizing what his character was, is Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. He's another one who fans want canned, and it's clear why. We all saw the Eagles collapse last year. From the looks of this year, it's still continuing. Sirianni knows his ass is on the line. The fans want him out of there. This week, the Eagles barely, and I mean barely survived the lowly Cleveland Browns and their highly overpaid, grossly undertalented, sex offender QB. Yet what does Sirianni do? He chirps at Eagles fans and pounds his chest. After only beating a one-win Browns team by four points! What he should be doing is thanking the Lions, Ravens, and Bengals right now. Because of those three, the Eagles are the only NFC East team to win this week.

The week began with the San Francisco 49ers surviving their NFC West battle with the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football, winning 36-24. Seattle's lost three straight after starting 3-0, and as a result of this win, the Niners--at 3-3--are in first place. Elsewhere in the NFC, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off against the New Orleans Saints, and it was a wild rollercoaster. The Bucs led 17-0, then that lead was suddenly gone, but in a wild twist, TB ended up finishing with 51 points! Holy moley! Elsewhere in the early window, the Houston Texans soundly defeated the New England Patriots, 41-21, and the Indianapolis Colts won a close thriller over the Tennessee Titans.

The late window saw the Pittsburgh Steelers get back on track with a big win in Las Vegas, and that game saw Najee Harris finally pick up his first touchdown of the season. This was a needed win coming off that heartbreaking loss to the Cowboys last week, and it kept them in pace with the Ravens following their win over the Commanders. Elsewhere in the late window, the Los Angeles Chargers won big in Denver, and they are off to a pretty good start to their season at 3-2, and the Atlanta Falcons blasted the Carolina Panthers to stay on top of the NFC South.
We are now one-third into this season. Six weeks down, 12 to go. Week 7 kicks off the heart of the season, and it will begin with the New Orleans Saints hosting the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football. The game will mark Sean Payton's return to New Orleans as an opposing coach; I sense a standing ovation for Payton on Thursday. We will see another London game on Sunday, as the Jacksonville Jaguars will remain in London and face the New England Patriots. On Sunday Night Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers will host the New York Jets, and on Monday Night Football, it's two games. In one, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host the Baltimore Ravens, and the other will feature the Los Angeles Chargrs and the Arizona Cardinals. The latter of the two Monday games will air exclusively on ESPN+, though I would think local simulcasts would apply.
