Trump Complains!
Labour Activists Regarded as Foreign Interference.

It is only natural that Labour activists would go to the US and campaign for Kamala Harris. Ms. Harris as the Democratic nominee for President has re-energised their campaign. Their campaign was going nowhere when Biden was their candidate. The Democrats had to gently push Biden out of the campaign especially, after the disastrous Biden debate with Trump. Biden reluctantly stepped aside nominating his VP as his successor.
Labour activists are going to the US to help Ms. Harris win the vote next month. I am sure there are Conservative and Reform activists from the UK helping Trump with his campaign. Look at Reform leader and MP Nigel Farage, he is always over in the States, helping his orange buddy. Some say at the expense of his constituents in Clacton.
Trump, however, has not taken kindly to these Labour activists. By volunteering to offer their services for Kamala, Mr. Trump has filed a complaint against them. Mr. Trump has stated that he thinks these Labour activists are UK interference in the US election. The complaint has been filed with the independent Federal Electoral Commission. Let us hope that Kamala has more dignity and is not so thin-skinned as to report Tory activists for aiding D T.
The US polls about how Trump and Harris are doing vary. Many would agree that there is not much in it. Although Kamala's campaign might be faltering. Conversely, there is still all to play for both candidates. The only poll that matters is who the US votes for in November. What Trump 2.0 will be like one cannot say. Will he be like he was last time or different? Will Kamala be a female version of Biden or will she bring something new to the table?
Sir Keir Starmer jetting over to a Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Samoa spoke about the matter. Mr. Starmer said he has a good relationship with the former American President. Trump's complaint will not affect the UK's relationship with him if he becomes President.
Obviously, Mr. Starmer would prefer Kamala to be President. After all, she is a Democrat (the US equivalent to Labour) and it is only natural for Sir Keir to want her in the White House. Also, Ms. Harris is the same generation as Starmer give or take a few years. However, age should not come into it. Whoever is elected be it Trump or Harris, Mr. Starmer will make an effort to get on with them.
The US and UK since the days of Churchill and Roosevelt have had a so-called 'special relationship'. Who can forget the relationship between Blair and Bush, perhaps the closest relationship since Roosevelt and Churchill? Although Maggie and Ronald got on like a house on fire. Cameron and Obama seemed to be close friends but their relationship soured. Trump/Harris will have a relationship with Sir Keir Starmer but how close that will be will remain to be seen.
Do governments interfere in each other's elections or at least monitor them, sure. Even friends and allies like the Brits and the Yanks do monitor each other politically. Yes, friends do spy on each other. So, how much more would enemy nations like Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea spy on or even interfere in Western nation's elections? No doubt, out of a choice between Harris or Trump, 'Vlad the Invader' Putin would prefer Trump. So, he may be actively using all means at his disposal to get Trump elected. How that relationship will go remains to be seen. In Trump's first outing as President Trump and Putin met and got on. Putin was not ostracised and had not invaded Ukraine then. Now Putin is shunned by the Western world and is wanted as a war criminal. So how both leaders will navigate this will be interesting.
In summary and to repeat myself, whoever is in the White House after Biden the UK and the US must do their best to accommodate each other.
