How to Effectively Moderate Immigration Flows into the United States
One will not accomplish this goal by telling future asylum seekers that coming to the United States is not a good idea. Instead, the best way to achieve this goal would be to tell the truth and provide realistic opportunities to those making the long trek. It will not happen by relocating these immigrants from red states to blue states, where governments put immigrants in hotels and take care of these families for up to 6 months before they can legally secure work visas.

Why do politicians, of all parties, say such stupid things?
Why do politicians, of all parties, say such stupid things? Why must a politician have an opinion of everything? Look at the headlines, on just about all media platforms, and you see statements supposedly from prominent politicians that just do not seem logical. First, we need to examine the platform and its own political bias, they all have them. Some are so extreme in their devotion to a particular political ideology that everything they say has to be treated with great caution. They will make claims that rival ideology statements are dangerous and evil when in reality the rival ideology has not made any such statement. Even less extreme platforms will “misinterpret” the meaning of innocuous quotes that a rival politician has made. All parties have begun to operate in the same way and democracy itself is suffering because of it. Fake news, disinformation, inuendo and downright lies have become normal to such an extent that they are accepted and not even vilified anymore. This is not healthy for the future.

With Just Hours to Go, No Deal in Sight to Avoid Government Shutdown
September 30th (Washington, D.C.) – {Updated with the latest details as of 9:07pm ET} Unless something drastic happens, we are a mere few hours away from the largest, and perhaps longest, government shutdown in United States history. The entire federal budget—all 12 appropriation bills—must be passed by midnight or every government program and service will come to a grinding halt, save for those that support critical infrastructure and security, are required by mandatory spending, or have some other way to temporarily continue to function. Nonetheless, even those essential workers who sustain these operations will only be showing up because they are compelled to do so by law; most will not be seeing a paycheck for their efforts. In order for them to be paid, not only does a budget need to be passed, but Congress must create separate legislation to compensate them for the time the government was shut down. Meanwhile, no elected or appointed official will be receiving their recompence, either, including the person at the center of this maelstrom: the President of the United States.

Sunak Reported to Scottish Police.
Sunak made what would be His last speech before next year's general election. One of the most controversial parts of the speech was about HS2. Despite West Midland's Mayor Andy Street and Greater Manchester's Mayor Andy Burnham's protestations, HS2 is being wound up. There had been speculation about, what, exactly Sunak and Chancellor Hunt would do about it. Sunak revealed, in his conference speech, that HS2 would be closed down between Birmingham and Manchester. Instead, Sunak said, the 6 million that it was taking to construct the line would be ploughed back into developing motorways, in need, of repair. That's all well and good, but one of the reasons for constructing the rail system was to take traffic off the road. Now with the winding up of the Birmingham - Manchester line, more commuters must find alternative ways of travelling. Which will create more congestion on our already busy roads and motorways.

The World According to Laurence Fox
I’ll level with you from the outset; I’ve never really liked Laurence Fox. Well, that’s a lie, as I always enjoyed his portrayal of Sgt Hathaway in Lewis. I wish he’d stuck to that sort of thing. Ever since his foray into politics with his car crash of an appearance on Question Time, he just hasn’t been my cup of tea. Which is interesting because he’s often put into a “camp” of sorts with people who I do have a lot of time for, i.e. those who believe in free speech, old-fashioned liberalism, challenging authorities/narratives, scepticism, disdain of all major political parties and how they’re so similar to each other etc. etc.
