Farage Took Advantage of Starmer.
Labour Addresses Migration.

We have all seen the protests up and down the UK against migrants being housed in hotels. While hoteliers are laughing all the way to the bank. Protesters stand outside or opposite these places, usually with placards, St George Flags, and the Union Flag. Are these people just mindless far-right thugs, or do some of them have genuine concerns? Well, the answer is some of them will be racist thugs, and I make no bones about that. Others, though, will have concerns about who these men are, and they are largely men of combat age. Of course, many will be genuine people fleeing one disaster or another. But amongst them will be criminals and even terrorists.
While the government have been on their jollies, Reform UK has tapped into the subject of migration. Nigel Farage announced a mass deportation policy. The subject of migrant women and children, however, is still to be addressed. Nevertheless, Reform UK have played a blinder in announcing this. While Labour was out of parliament on recess, Reform UK chose its time to strike. They know there is a groundswell of public opinion appalled by seemingly endless boat people coming across the Channel. So why wouldn't they tap into it?
Labour, in its first week back from recess, addressed the issue of migrants. Keir Starmer, interviewed, said he got why folk were concerned about the subject. He said he would be bringing forward a raft of measures to deal with this. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper announced a temporary ban on migrants wishing to join families in the UK. Labour knows its seeming inability to get a grip on illegal migrants is its Achilles heel.
The question is, can Labour turn it around? Tory Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philps said voters had lost confidence in Labour. Well, that's all well and good, coming from a party that lost control of our borders when in government. However, Philps has a point, Sir Keir Starmer said he would "smash the gangs" exploiting these folk and get a grip on boat people. However, people want results, not just slogans. As Sunak found when he couldn't "Stop the Boats" and lost the election, so Labour must learn from his failings and deliver for the people.
Starmer will start his one-in, one-out policy, an agreement he made with President Macron. Shifting migrants back to where they arrived from. Probably France, as most migrants come from France on rubber dinghies. Will this be a deterrent, though, to stop these overloaded dinghies carrying migrants across the Channel? Only time will tell if numbers start falling.
Meanwhile, in England, we are seeing English and British flags appearing everywhere. Hung from lamp posts, drawn on roundabouts in roads, etc. Anyone not realising might think the World Cup is on. However, the flags are definitely being hung or painted for national pride, but it certainly isn't for the England soccer team. There is a campaign now encouraging English people to be proud of being English. So, nationalistic symbols are appearing.
No doubt a lot of it is about what it means to be English. Many people of colour or even white foreigners are feeling something disturbing here, and they may be right. However, many working-class people feel they are being ignored, cancelled, and seen by the powers that be as irrelevant. So it's natural some will have had enough of this and proclaim their dissatisfaction. Many areas of the UK do not look British anymore if you are speaking of how the UK used to look before people from Pakistan to Poland came here.
Where all this will lead, one cannot speculate. However, as the Chinese curse goes, we do indeed "Live in interesting times".
