Buying Control Of Money
I first found out about Bitcoin a few years ago. I do not recall the exact year I have heard of Bitcoin; that goes to show you that Bitcoin meant nothing to me, and I had no desire to partake in another form of digital transactions. Do not get me wrong. I am a very open-minded person, and I am willing to try anything that sparks an interest. The thing is I never took the time to research Bitcoin because I did not come across enough sources at the time and there was no word-of-mouth that could provide me with information or testimonies.

Who? The first thing that should be covered is, “Who came up with Bitcoin?” followed by, “Who actually gives a darn about Bitcoin?” The answer to the first question is complicated, but in short involves the name Satoshi Nakamoto. Anyone wanting to honor the founder(s) of Bitcoin should know that name, and it matters because nobody really knows for sure who Satoshi Nakamoto really is. The name is universally considered a pseudonym (meaning it is very likely not the real name of whoever came up with Bitcoin.) Maybe the real Satoshi Nakamoto is the guy who was supposedly handed over the keys to Bitcoin shortly before Satoshi Nakamoto was never heard from again (Popper, 2016).

Dreams Fulfilled at Grab a Byte Cafe
Jason Ishotas frequented Grab a Byte Cafe on a regular basis. Gamers and geeks of all kinds congregated there to network and share code with website developers. Grab a Byte hosted weekly Zoom calls featuring some of the most prolific gamers in the industry and online tournaments drew capacity crowds on the weekend. After leaving his 8 am to 5 pm gig at a big box store, Jason often dropped in at the Cafe to learn the latest trade tricks and to look for collaborators on an innovative idea. Unfortunately, none of his acquaintances in the cyber community bought into his endeavor to upend the financial world. They believed his dream to be foolhardy and a complete waste of time. People preferred to hold cash in hand...to have something tangible...to know that a local bank stored their wealth. They also thought cyber money to be more suitable for buying items in Minecraft not in the real world of commerce. No one in his personal circle supported his vision until Mia Sato walked into his life.

The Mysteries of Bitcoin.
Bitcoin was created by a mysterious person in January of 2009. Today I am going to try to unravel this mystery. How might you ask? By researching and using my imagination of course! I did some research on Bitcoin and discovered that Bitcoin is like a computer file that is stored in an “digital wallet” app on either your computer or phone. You can give bitcoins to other people. It’s basically a form of money you can be paid in bitcoins and you can buy things with bitcoins. I also found out that there is a thing you can do called “bitcoin mining” and it is where specialized computers have miners and the miner process every bitcoin transaction. Then they chain those transactions together in a “blockchain” as it is called. It takes about 10 minutes to “mine” a bitcoin. One bitcoin is worth 48,099.50 US dollars.

Albert and Sakura
It was a hot day in June when Albert decided he was done working for someone else and picked up his ball cap and messenger bag and walked out of the office. He was frustrated, hot, sweaty, and mad. That was it really, he was just plain mad. His boss was a jerk and didn’t even understand half of what Albert showed him, but he was the one making all the money while Albert scrounged behind the seat cushions when he needed money for the subway. It wasn’t fair, Albert thought. How could someone so stupid be his boss? Albert would never understand the way companies worked. It was like they promoted the people who couldn’t do anything so they wouldn’t mess up the actual day-to-day business. It made little sense, but Albert was done trying to understand. He was going to do his own thing.

She passes the ketchup. “Now, I know what you’re thinking.” He tips the bottle upside down and slams his palm against the bottom. Smack smack. “I’m not who you were expecting.” Smack smack. “Don’t worry. No one’s ever expecting me.” With one last smack, ketchup burbles out of the bottle onto the mountain of fries on his plate. “It’s the fancy clothes, isn’t it? People always expect me to look like a low life.”
