The Return of the Smize
We often hear a smile is the prettiest thing you can wear. That advice is now irrelevant when half your face is covered. In 2020, masks became a fashion statement and a political one. Once thought of as part of a surgeon's uniform, now the most noticeable style accessory to show off your personality or activism.

Let Us Lay Tie-Dye To Rest. Second Place in So 2020 Challenge.
Reminiscent of summer camps and sleepovers, (or for those more experienced in life and lettuce, the ultimate summer sleepover of ‘69,) tie-dye has worked its way from the kid’s craft aisle at Walmart, to beaching with Beyonce, all the way up to headlining Christian Dior’s Spring 2020 collection “Quarantine Fashion.” This, of course, being foolishly caused by the cabin fever plaguing every citizen this past year.

One Shade of Wrong
It turns out that our phone screens were not the only ones glowing in 2020. A new trend emerged last year, challenging the integrity of fashion designers: the highlighter trend. Along with the arrival of more daylight in Spring time, came fashionistas who decided to take their revenge on the dark, lonely and attenion-less year they had experienced thus far. This revenge came in the shape of head to toe neon clothing. From neon shoes, coats, jumpsuits and dresses to handbags, nails and even hair extensions. Inspired by the chemincal eliment, glow sticks and car-park marshalls; these trend setters were beginning to look on the bright side of life and expressed it in their clothing.

Fashion over
We often think that ‘fashion’ only suits the young people. As people get older they start to detach them from fashion, and style, and this makes them look older than their age. A long time ago, there were rules for women. Women had to follow a special trend to prove others that they are getting older now. They couldn't style up to look a little younger.

New Year New Fashion
Well, we are one month down into 2021 basically, and change is happening all around us. That being in spirit, presidency, careers, and so much more. We even have a new norm when it comes to our everyday appearance, that being masks. It has become fashionable for many that finally excepted the masks, but that’s not what I am here to talk about. If we are going to be getting into fashion that should let go of, I personally would love to see tight close disappear, for both men and women. That means regular fit for men and loose-fitting clothes for women. I mean if you are ask me, it is easy to catch attention and turn heads wearing little to nothing or with tight clothes with every dent and crease visible. But what I want to know is, can you catch my attention without clothes that you have to jump into or inhale and hold until you can squeeze in them? I get it, it is sexy to show off your body, especially if you spend hours a day working on it but imagine the surprise on the faces of the lucky person that gets to see it come time as oppose to the unwanted faces you also attract walking down the city streets.

Tiny Purse Tyranny
I feel like this trend that I absolutely despise has been overshadowed by 2020's baffling low-rise pants, exposed thongs, and of course, the incorrect mask (it goes over the nose). This trend that I am about to mention has been hiding. I'll see it every now and then, but never quite in its full force. But, it does have the potential for a comeback, so I'm hoping to squash that possibility right now.

Bye Bye Bermudas
It's the Wild Thornberry vibes for me... You know what I mean? How Eliza rocked the cargo bermudas with the tucked in tank? Cute for a safari or beach, not for boardrooms even if they are virtual. It's also the way they sit ever so slightly 6 inches above the knee, giving us that subtle knee action we've just always wanted. *eye roll* The length alone is uneasy to look at. They just look long, though they’re shorts. I get they're meant to be longer shorts, but honestly, they feel closer to being shorter capris and for some reason, that's just unsettling to me. They also say to me, “I’m trying to be formal, but I want to be casual and I’m trying to be cool but need to be warm too.” They’re confused, I’m confused, and I don’t like it.
