A guide to: Becoming
To really get to know me, we have to start at the begining. I don't have alot of memories but I will give you what I've got. I was born in the Pacific NorthWest to two young parents with now 3 daughters, no money and no clue. We lived on thrift store couches, free cable (the 90's were fun weren't they?) and Ramen noodles. My parents lived the romaticised broke life you see on TV where two kids run away with nothing but the clothes on their backs and are happy with just each other; for the first 4 years of my life.

Social (Anxiety) Butterflies
I have never been a fan of small talk. Even as a child, I wanted to skip right past the hey how are you, how's the weather and jump right into who their favorite dinosaur was and why. I could learn a lot more about a person by their favorite dinosaur anyway, not how cloudy the sky was. Meeting new people was often anxiety causing then, just as it is now. I'd much prefer if people gave me details about a new person I was meeting, and things we might have in common.

To The Kids Who Didn't Want To Be Friends With Me
We look back at those playground days of laughter, running in the sports field, and sitting in the field to make necklaces out of the flowers we didn't know were weeds. That was my school, the sports field was used for recess while the playgrounds were being built for the Elementary school. The kids at my school knew how to make the most of it. There was an amalgamation of activities, and that sports field became an imagination of activities. Recess wasn't just playtime, games, and flowers, it was thirty minutes of lessons about who your friends were and weren't. It was a lesson outside of the classroom.

8 Things Alcohol-Free Women Do Before 8 AM
I’ve been alcohol-free now for 266 months. Many of my friends don’t drink alcohol, either. What I choose to do right after waking up sets the mood and attitude for my day. If I am in the mood of gratitude, it won’t even occur to me to dash off a hostile text. If I set an intention to practice tolerance today, I’ll be curious about how I will deal with my impatience when I’m in an endless line at the self-checkout at Target. If my intention is to write and publish a blog post before noon every day, I somehow find the time and energy to do so. (See this post as Exhibit A.)

If you experience these 5 things, your drinking is more out of control than you think.
In the same way that I’m 5'8" and I have blue eyes, both things were true but not causal. I knew my life was off track. My career was stalled. My marriage ended. And the caliber of the guys I dated was declining faster than I could believe.
