These Four Walls
I open the old wooden door, and a creak fills the space, echoing as if a cavern or place of burial. Something has died here, but it is not the rotting walls of this ancient building, or even the decaying corpses of rodents scattered across the floor. No, the true death that occurred here was that of myself.

Are We Killing Young People
In the past months, my 13-year-old stepdaughter took 38 ibuprofen pills, was hospitalised and had to get her stomach pumped. My best friend’s stepdaughter took a bottle of pills and my stepdaughter's friend took his own life. They were all between the ages of 13 and 15. I acknowledge that there have always been mental health issues and indeed suicide but why does it seem like the problem is unprecedented? Why is the next generation so keen to die?

Pain
I sometimes wonder why they call them pain pills, it NEVER fully kills the pain, it only numbs it temporarily. After a few hours, give or take, it resurfaces. This time it has returned with a vengance stronger than the last time. Ingest one more pill, that should definitely get the job done. Except it does not.
