What’s in a gift?
Holiday Reflections in Verse Challenge
There
nestled
all a r o u n d
the Christmas tree
so m a n y presents
wait m o s t expectantly.
Tiny ones amongst the B I G …
boxes containing "who knows what!"
Some... wrapped up in shiny red paper,
others... cloaked... in s a t i n pillowcases…
‘I’m Saving the Planet’… annoying the kids!
It’s a l w a y s such an enjoyable thing to do…
Wrapping 'useful' things like ‘collage’ sticky-tape.
Egg cartons… a f u t i l e disguise they make!
Christmas Eve… they shake, rattle and roll…
guessing the gift, h i d i n g inside…
here a sniff… not s o a p again!
There, a squeeze - more lollies?
They know every gift…
on Christmas Day
including
J e s u s
Christ!

Satin pillowcases, what a great idea! Can use them all year round once the presents are open!
Such a fun Christmas vibe! From shaking gifts to guessing what's inside, it's all about the little surprises. And of course, the real gift is the love we share!
I loved this poem. Nicely Done!!!
I love everything about this! Each line! The formatting! The structure! And the beautiful powerful final lines you extended to from all the lovely imagery!
I love how you wrote each line, changing the font to emphasis emotions and actions. Great Christmas poem!
Hahahahahahaha the sniff and the squish. Loved your poem!
A sweet poem, Angie. The last gift is the best one!
