What If?
What if the carousel never stopped spinning,
A storm of thoughts, forever beginning?
Round and round, the horses race,
Each “what if” etched upon their face.
What if the sky falls? What if I fail?
What if the winds tear apart my sail?
What if the path I choose is wrong,
Or I’m too weak when I should be strong?
The mind becomes a dizzying fair,
A restless circus, a weight to bear.
But what if, instead, I stepped away,
Letting the fears dissolve with the day?
What if I dared to simply let go,
To silence the questions I’ll never know?
What if the future is kinder than this—
A place of hope, of joy, of bliss?
For every “what if” that darkens the skies,
There’s a brighter “what if” that helps me rise.
What if I’m braver than I believe?
What if my dreams are mine to achieve?
So let the carousel whirl and spin,
But I’ll choose the “what ifs” that let light in.
A gentler song, a softer refrain,
And freedom from the endless chain.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
