What Curse Was This?
The Faerie in the Garden - Poppy's Prompts #9

Gentle fae, what evil was wrought here?
What force would fracture your innocence,
Freezing each feather forever in time,
Leaving sightless eyes, eternally
Watching the crow take to the air
On its still-pliant wings,
Soft smile solidified,
Belying the anguished spirit within?
What black candle was lit?
What mistress of the Tarot
Turned up the black ace
That trapped you thus?

Going through some old photos and came across a suitable subject for Poppy's Prompts September Edition. (I always wanted do something with this one!)

Thank you for taking the time to write this post. It’s been incredibly helpful for me. Keep up the great work, and good luck with your upcoming updates! Also, I would like to share an informative resource with you that I found on the internet here is the link to that resource https://www.capitalbluemedicare.com/wps/portal/capm/home/enroll
I don't think a thing exists or doesn't exist that you can't write about. I love this!
You did a justice for Poppy. Glad 😊 and then I subscribed you 😁.
Woah! This was so whimsical but also wistfully sad! Beautiful piece, Dana!
excellent use of the prompt words!
This is right up my alley, Dana, and your photo is the perfect fit! I love seeing writers use personal photography. I think I may give this prompt a whirl, too! We are upon my favorite time of year and I feel Fall vibes and Halloween, and all things that go bump in the night with this one. Awesome!!!
Brilliantly carved poem, Dana! I loved the whole thing, but this line was perfection to me! "Freezing each feather forever in time" wow... that just filled me with a deep melancholy as I consider the likely iron-wrought fate of the fae carved in stone
Well-wrought! The metalhead in me immediately hears Lemmy singing about the Ace of Spades...
Great picture to go with a great poem
Whoaaaa, your photo and poem complement each other so well. I loved it!
This felt eery, but also piqued my interest too!! Great work Dana!!
I love the photo—it's beautifully haunting. And the poem is absolutely perfect for it! I particularly love these lines: "Leaving sightless eyes, eternally Watching the crow take to the air On its still-pliant wings," That gave me chills. A great entry to Poppy's challenge!
Perfect ekphrastic (or whatever it's called). Well done, my friend.
One of your finest captured here!
