Visiting ‘Christmas Wonderland’
Wonderland Poetry Prompt Challenge Day 30

Christmas Wonderland mysteriously
materialises in our CBD…
a magical magnet drawing all to
see, enjoy and marvel together
in a fantasy forest of twinkling
lights of all shapes, celebrating Christmas…
Nativity scenes mingle with Rudolf
Bunya pines tower over all, festooned
in their finery, blinking on and off.
Our world in miniature: Sydney Harbour
Bridge, Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower lit up
amongst the fragrant shrubs, hedges and trees.
Local dance classes perform while parents
look on, as shy toddlers spin, trip and fall.
Concert bands belt out favourite carols
crowds sing along, shoulder to shoulder with
family and friends, locals and visitors
alike, sampling sausage sizzles and free
ice-creams that drip on shirts, shoes and steps.
Our local Lions Club labours long to
Bringing the community closer
Together, for the exorbitant cost of
a gold coin donation… if you can spare it!

This sounds marvelous. My town has something similar! I love your use of imagery. I felt as if I was really there.
Lovely poem, Angie.
That's a captivating nativity scene. Nice narration of Christmas.
This Christmas Wonderland sounds amazing! The twinkling lights and different attractions make it a great community event. It's cool how local groups put in effort. Do you think more cities should organize such affordable and inclusive holiday celebrations? I love that it brings people together, from locals to visitors. The mix of nativity scenes and famous landmarks in lights is really creative. How do you think they come up with these unique displays every year?
