My depression & I

By jaime elizabethPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

You were like glow in the dark stars on my ceiling:

Only temporary,

Barely cutting through the darkness,

Leaving marks where you were

Before you pulled away

I was like a street light in the day time:

Barely visible,

More than likely just a mistake,

Not achieving anything

By being there

We were like space:

All-consuming,

Dark and a little overwhelming,

Not safe to expose yourself to

Without protection

You are like the dead plant in my room:

A shadow of what you once were,

Not thriving,

Nor doing any damage

Just there

I am like my fractured ankle:

Healing, slowly,

Still in need of help,

Still hurting sometimes

But coping

We are like the tide being pulled by the moon:

We flow together,

We are connected,

I know how it works with you

And I am rolling with it for now
